Rod Parsley is a televangelist. Do I need to explain further?
This was right after a Navy SEAL team took out Osama Bin Laden. I understand that preachers often speak topically, so I get the subject coming up. But look at the audience who he describes as ‘elite’ like the Navy SEALS. The people that he gleefully implies could kick the asses of my friends at 101st Airborne… maybe it’s a faith thing.
Look at that guy clapping for himself, and nodding in self-approval at 1:08. Elite.
Meanwhile, Satan is attacking…
Rod Parsley is begging for money right now. He says that the 1.2 million dollar deficit he faces is because of Satan. Rod is also literally fighting Satan himself (directly), though he claims this every year when he runs out of money.

“Do you believe in a better day? Do you have faith in a golden way? If you do, then we must come together this day Come together as one, united television audience Brought together by the sound of my voice United, united financially, united socially, United spiritually, and all possible ways Through the power of money And the power of prayers….”

Simon: Good call on that one.
I’m short a million bucks or so. I’ll take it as a commission to go satan hunting.

These wretched people. My sister-in-law (the lovely Sharry) comes from a family of evangelicals and the ‘warriors for Christ’ in that rabble are waging war on Satan by telling her constantly that she doesn’t have a baby because my brother (the great Carlofski) is an atheist and has led her away from jebus, and she won’t have one until she returns to the church, husband in tow. Is that how the real Navy SEALS do it? Getting all in the face of a woman they think is vulnerable and laying on the guilt? I can’t imagine that it is. I also can’t imagine that actual Navy SEALS would be quite so quick to turn into cowards and backtrack rapidly from the awesome might of my mother (she’s almost five and a half feet tall!). My mother is incredibly protective of Sharry because her own mother is such a religious whack-job who treats her daughter as a baby-making machine and nothing more. Which is good, because I have a feeling this won’t be the last foray by the whiners for Jesus.

Navy Seals video:
I like the way the organist punctuates the preacher’s sermon. I wonder if he got his start at baseball matches?

Clever how the cameraman was able to anticipate the parishioner’s reaction at the 1.08 mark and get his camera into position for the shot -- or was it a noddy, spliced-in during post production?

@F
For those wanting to go ‘satan hunting’… A chaplain was giving a ridiculous sermon on how to do just that:

Parsley should do what Oral Roberts did years ago, hold himself for ransom. “Jebus will take me home if I don’t get a bazillion bucks.” Of course, there’s a minor problem if he doesn’t get a bazillion bucks, but a good televangelist should be able to bullshit himself of out committing suicide.
