The Air Force has just announced its support of what has to be a diploma mill.
I’m all for the DoD spending money on useful education opportunities for service members. I’m glad that there is serious talk of an incentive to hire veterans. But this is just one more thing that should really be stopped when so many items are on the chopping block.
This one gets weird though. If you follow the links back to the admittedly unaccredited institution… they aren’t even trying. The spirituality section, like anything labeled ‘spirituality’, is really bizarre:

“Angel healing” is clearly about healing angels. Apart from that, I think I’d have to go for Magick Basics. You can tell that’s a serious course from the spelling.

Well, given that we’re being offered a potpurri of courses, the only logical answer to your question is, of course, Aromatherapy 101.
Of course, if I just chose Teaching Reiki, then I could get a job working for this self-same university! Whether or not I actually take any of the actual reiki courses!

the trick is to take Reiki 1st Degree, then Reiki 2nd Degree, and then Reiki 1st and 2nd Degree. That’s 4 degrees you earn at once.
Can’t imagine having trouble with 4 college degrees in Reiki.

Ok wait a minute….I work at the Ed office on SJAFB and am an avid library user so I know a little about this program and this is a slight misrepresentation. The classes amount to continuing-ed courses like those offered through a community college and they aren’t towards any degree. All you get is a piece of paper saying to took the class. And yes the list you complied is HILARIOUS but there are many classes that aren’t. They are cutting MWR left and right for military families and this is the direction things are going…all on-line. So yes the classes listed are completely assinine but you aren’t telling the whole story.

Aaaaaaannnnnd (trying not to sound naggy)these are just a few of the hundreds of classes they are offering and it’s not like the AF went and asked for a bunch of kooky classes, they are part of the package deal and if you click on the link you will see there are many classes that can be helpful to a military career (like to help prepare for real college classes or CLEPS or figuring out what you want to study before you waste money, especially if you haven’t been in school for a while).
I guess I am just disappointed, while yes this is funny, there is a lot of things going on in the military for athiests to actually be pissed about and this isn’t it.

The thing is, these classes should NEVER be on the list. EVER! It’s a disgrace that they are there at all… If MWR wants to actually promote the W in their name, then this shit has got to go…
And as just a human being with neurons that still show synaptic activity I am offended at these classes. Irrespective of my atheism.
