Republican Filth Getting What They Want: Subhuman Right-Wing GOP Congressfuckes Blaming A Returned US POW For His Original Capture, Questioning His Integrity And Patriotism, And Making Sure He Blames Himself For The Freeing Of The Enemy POW’s He Was Traded For

Can these despicable anti-American filth descend any lower? Every time I think they can’t, they do.

Shitte, that was supposed to say “citation needed” in greater than/less than signs. Which the board interpreted as HTML, of course.

Giving credit where it’s due, CPP is the first blogger at CPP to say anything about this. Ed is presumably waiting for RWW to put something up, and PZ has Seattle on his mind.

It is interesting to note that only a few months ago members of the right wing were screaming that he should be brought home “by any means necessary”.

A final comment: apparently Fox News launched a vicious attack on Bergdahl’s father:

    <

You wonder why, given the fact that a couple of years ago they had already discounted him as a deserter, why would the president of the United States embrace his family in the Rose Garden?” Fox News host Steve Doocy opined.
Co-host Brian Kilmeade accused Bowe Bergdahl’s father, Robert Bergdahl, of making “some anti-American tweets and statements” because he had said he was working to free the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, and that “God will repay the death of every Afghan child.”
“Really?” Kilmeade asked. “I mean, he says he was growing his beard because his son was in captivity. Well, your son’s out now. So if you really don’t — no longer look like a member of the Taliban, you don’t have to look like a member of the Taliban. Are you out of razors?”
“Some are now suggesting that the White House team really blew it by having the Bergdahl’s right there, given the fact the intel community had a classified file on him,” Doocy later added. “They knew he walked away, they knew he was a deserter. And there’s the president embracing the family.<

I’d say CPP’s title is a little too kind towards these people.

I saw this post earlier and thought it was about just one rude idiot. But I just surfed through Fox News Channel, and realized that they were going on about this, so I stopped, thinking they were condemning the rude person. Wholly crap, was I in error. I watched until my tummy hurt, and then surfed on. I stopped again when I saw that Rachel Maddow was talking about Fox and the topic. It really looked like she was about to cry.

The clip of President Obama talking about the situation made it look like he was baffled by what he was having to say.

    What a mess.

There was just a POW rally. But hey, guilty until proven innocent! Would they think leaving him over there where, after he served no use, would be justice for unproven assertions of being a traitor? Bring him home and have a trial and then let US do the killing, it’s the ‘Merican Way!!

I’ve station surfed enough to hear the right-wing crazies on this and have some questions I haven’t heard asked yet.

    1. If all these other guys in his ‘band of brothers’ knew he was having psychological problems, why didn’t they intervene to help him?

    2. If all these other guys in his ‘band of brothers’ included the chaplain, that holy man of god & spiritual bastion that tax dollars pay for, why didn’t he intervene to help him?

    3. If all these other guys in his ‘band of brothers’ included their superior officers, why didn’t they intervene by ordering him to get therapy or send him back for treatment or at least change his duty assignment so he couldn’t just walk away?

I think court martials might be what are needed in this situation but not for Bergdahl. Dereliction of duty for his detractors seems appropriate according to their own testimony.

The whole Bergdahl thing is a win-win for the right-wingnuts. Pure gold. Obama doesn’t get him back? Obama hates the troops, because he’s an evil Mooslim. Obama gets him back? Negotiating with terrorists! Bergdahl’s a traitor! So’s his father! And Obama!

It doesn’t help that Bob Bergdahl is a complete and utter kook.

They were held for years without being charges because, rather than calling them terrorists (criminals) we classed them as prisoners of war.

If the war is ending, under international law we have to release prisoners of war, unless we could try them for war crimes (which we couldn’t.)

Do people think we were going to just be able to keep them FOREVER?
They were going to be released regardless.

Unless, of course, we were going to ignore UN regulations, international treaties, US law, and our own stated reason for holding them.

    …. oh yeah. :(
I guess we WERE going to keep them forever.

That was immediately obvious to myself, as well, Jafafa Hots. Unfortunately it’s also immediately obvious that Obama is black. So…. yeah.

    @8. Trebuchet :

It doesn’t help that Bob Bergdahl is a complete and utter kook.

    He is?

I haven’t seen much of him but to me he comes across as a good man who really loves his son and has been doing his best to help get him back.

Reminds me of David Hick’s father Terry Hicks and his dedicated efforts and campaign to get back his (much less sympathetic actual terrorist) son :

@12, SteveO: My Google-fu is failing me a bit at the moment, but as far as I recall:
He dropped out of college and moved to a self-built shack in the woods.
    Is a survivalist.
Belongs to the “Orthodox Presbyterian Church”, an oddball conservative denomination.
    Homeschooled his kids.
And looks like he belongs on Duck Dynasty!

@ ^ Trebuchet : Okay, that does sound bad.
