Fucken Goddamn Scientific Journal Motherfuckers

What the fucken goddamn hell are these goddamn motherfuckers thinking when they list the authors in their goddamn motherfucken e-mail TOCs as “Douchebaggio et al.” and don’t provide the names of any but the goddamn motherfucken first author? I need to see the goddamn motherfucken senior author when I scan the goddamn motherfucken TOC.

It might be inconvenient at times, but that kind of labeling does get me thinking of the paper in terms of the person who actually did the work. Otherwise, I end up casually referring to the paper as that Seniordouche paper where they fucked around with some cats (or whatever they did), rather than as Douchebaggio’s, and forget that Douchebaggio is an active, potentially up and coming researcher, doing work of interest.

If you read exclusively OA journals, or papers that people published on their blogs, you wouldn’t have this problem.

If this was still a real fuckin’ field PI’s wouldn’t take credit for other people’s work.

Who was the “senior author” on the Meselson-Stahl paper, asshole?

Shocked, I am SHOCKED that you wouldn’t blithely follow up any paper of interest from a ToC irrespective of whose lab it’s in.
