Using footnotes in a long blogge post and thereby forcing the reader to scroll all the way up and down the motherfucken page is an asshole move. Don’t do itte.

Ian, I think Comradde PhysioProffe
is looking in your direction. ;)

How about paragraph footnotes? So not at the bottom of the page, but at the bottom of the paragraph?

Easy for you to say, oh terse and pithy one.

Hey, some of us think footnotes are cool. I would be sorry if Ian and Ampersand stopped using them.
Seems to me the problem is not the footnote, it’s the aggravating scrolling up and down. In a properly designed interface, clicking on the superscript jumps you to the footnote, and clicking on some part of the footnote (the superscript, an arrow at the end, etc) highlighted as a link (which again should be obvious in a properly designed site) jumps you back. (Alas and my own site work this way.)
No scrolling needed.
Or, if you’re too lazy to do even that, as I frequently am, I just wait till I get to the bottom to read them.
But i think the hate should be on the bad design, not on footnotes per se.
On the other hand, despite autofilling my name, handle etc, this site accused me of being an imposter, and had me go through a bunch of hoops to post this comment…not exactly a bastion of user-friendliness, here.

I guess the answer is to make your footnotes into their own posts :P

What does blogging etiquette say about writing a supposed blog with as little content as this one?

Say what? Now a blog has to have “content”? Sez who?

Trebuchet, if that is your real name, I imagine blogging etiquette dictates we all piss on your leg and tell you it’s raining… No? Maybe I’m mixing metaphors again. Seriously, physioproffe has handled this claime before. It all boils down to “who the fuck are you? not the blogger? shut the fucke up then.” Though I will say CP handles it with a tad more panache.

Hi stupid throwaway douchebagge!
Guess what? Criticism, joking or not, incorrect or not, is not telling someone what to do.
CP has far more panache and apparently a lot more cognitive ability than you do. Bucket of piss – you’re soaking in it.

Isn’t there blogging etiquette for using correct spelling?

Check your fire! Trebuchet was getting pissey about the lack of content, and I merely reiterated what I’ve seen CP iterate at least once before (paraphrasically.)

On a blog, you can let commenters generate content. This is a food and sports blog. So, how about that famous sports person that went to North Korea?

If you are not on a laptop, you could rotate the monitor 90 degrees and rotate the image the other way in order to interact with your computer in portrait mode. Were you successful in trimming the fat out of the firefox tabs from a few posts back? Maybe you could try opera and arrange the tab bar vertically to see larger portions of blog posts?

my style of commenting edikit relies on an axiomatic use of martial arts concepts.
my example of drunken monkey style of discourse exposed your weakness to cherry picking a spelling error.
also, I have a 10 pound book on etiquette and the only thing I know about that subject is that it was developed so that the elitists such as royalty and the rich could create a code of conduct to determine who is and isn’t part of their social world.
