Computer screen aspect ratios are substantially wider than they used to be. Browsers have more fucken shitte at the top of the screen than they used to: tabs, toolbars, etc. Web pages have more fucken shitte at the top of the page than they used to: top-level navigation links, all kinds of fucken widgets, and other shitte.
And in light of this effective reduction of available vertical space on the screen, the fucken genius designers at Weather.com decided to *change* the design of their local weather pages from a really nice horizontal layout that allowed you to see a fucketonne of information without scrolling to a horrendous vertical layout that requires scrolling to see anything fucken useful. SO FUCKE YOU!!!!!!!!

And here I thought physioproffe would prefer this website when it came to checking out the weather.

I like http://www.wunderground.com , personally. I don’t think I’ve looked at weather.com in many years, if ever.

Blame smartphones.
All their useable space is vertically oriented, so designing your webpage to minimize horizontal space usage make web pages more accessible on smartphones.

I just use NOAA
http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=New+York&state=NY&site=OKX&textField1=40.7198&textField2=-73.993&e=1
Lots of useful and interesting weather and climate info links as well.

I second the nomination for forecast.weather.gov as CPP’s new go-to site for weather. Clean layout, no ads (taxpayer supported!), all the info you need – but unfortunately only for the USA, not worldwide.
For international weather, or when I need forecasts with 1 hour or even 15 minute granularity, I still use weather.com.

Google Chrome. No fucking menu bars or toolbars needed (unless you like the bookmarks bar but I don’t).
The updated Weather.com app on iPhone is awesome! Especially if you like to check on the weather in other cities, while traveling for example. Just add them to your favorites and swipe through. Even the background picture changes to show what the weather is like in that location. I haven’t used their website in almost a year.

No, the change from 4:3 to 16:9 or 16:10 resolutions has a lot more to do with it than anything else. We used to design our pages to be viewed very differently.

Amen brother!! And if you don’t have at least a quad 3gHz it takes forever to load all that shit only to find you have to go to another page to see half the info. It’s like the assholes who design websites and webpages are in league with the manufacturers to make everything as inefficient and slow as possible to sell more frickin’ iron. Shades of IBM in the 1970′s!!
