Plunking

It was absolutely fine that Hamills plunked Harper. And then Harper punished him by scoring that inning. And then the Nats’ pitcher plunked a Phillie later in the game. It’s all part of the game behind the game that adds to the romance and interest of baseball.

But dude, they are called “unwritten rules” for a reason! Hamills deserves the suspension just for being so fucken stupid as to admit that he plunked the motherfucker because he is a young whippersnapper who needed to be taken down a notch and initiated into the hierarchy.

As a Nats fan, we were all like, “He said what?” He admitted it? “Stupid fool, you deserve to be suspended for just for shear, plain, stupidity”…and the Nats won the series, whoo-hoo….

PS No mention of the Caps, please :/

To DrugMonkey: Plunking a dude in the small of the back with an off-speed pitch is completely non-injurious. This has nothing to do with intentionally trying to injure someone and is completely irrelevant to any discussion of bounties in football.

It was a 93 mph fastball, which is about as fast as Hamels gets. We can assess the injuriousness of such a pitch easily: Get yourself to the nearest batting cage, set it to ’93′ and point it at or near your kidneys. Please report back.

I just don’t know what he hit him for – getting a call on a checked swing previously is the best guess.

I saw that pitch live on teevee and how hard it hit Hanley and Hanley’s instantaneous reaction, and there is no fucken way that pitch was 93 mph.

I liked the way former Dodger catcher John Roseboro retaliated against a brush back pitch from Phillies pitcher Dallas Green. He laid down a bunt along the 1st base line and knocked Green on his fucken ass when he went to field it.

We’ve all seen bats fly out of batters’ hands into the stands. I’ve never understood why batters who have been hit with a pitch don’t just let the bat “slip” at the pitcher the next time they’re at bat. I think I saw that once, but that’s how I would handle it. I have also never understood why a great hitter would have to take such abuse just because he’s great.
