I have not seen any believable evidence that this supposed “Iranian” conspiracy is anything other than the usual painfully stupid viciously angry motherfucker “conspiring” with FBI agents and their deadbeat sleazy informants who fuel his delusions of destructive grandeur. Anybody got anything that would change my mind?

Painfully stupid, perhaps – but viciously angry?!?
As for the hype factor, so far it perfectly matches the standard FBI MO. The wingnuts are yelling “Distraction from the ‘Operation Fast & Furious’ fubar”, and (as with the original reportage of OFF, which story they apparently broke) they seem to have a strong case.

Interesting discussion of this here. Patrick Lang’s an ex-spook, and not given to conspiracy theories. He doesn’t seem to believe the official story. I must say I don’t, either. I don’t know if that’s more because I remember the stories of FBI informants inciting violence ever since the 1960s, or because after being lied to by my government for a decade or so concerning Iran I’m starting to catch on.
