The event was the first large-scale abortion rights demonstration in Washington since 1992, the New York Times reports.
Reports on the size of the crowd vary, but police sources informally estimated it at between 500,000 and 800,000 according to AP, while organisers put it at 1.15 million, AFP reports.

I was there to witness the influx of wingnuts after a conference at NIH, and nutty they were. Also, relatively sparse as you point out. We mostly found them to be a gnat-like nuisance in our enjoyment of the Smithsonian museums. But my husband and I did have fun musing out loud at the ignoramus paradox on the back of one guy’s t-shirt, about how we need to ‘kick out Comrade Obama and his Tsars” since the whole point of the Bolshevik Revolution was for the comrades to kick out the tsars…
