I was watching that game last night, thinking of exactly this point, and wondering about CPP’s blood pressure.

I have NO idea what Andy is thinking. Simply mystifying.

That was a tough loss. Maybe Reid has lost his marbles. Sorry :(.

Yeah, you’d never catch the Hoodie doing anything boneheaded like that. Cheat and steal opponents signals sure, but that?

Like last year, he didn’t hesitate to go completely away from any running game, and have Tom chuck the ball to anyone and everyone. Sure it was obvious, but that was way out of character for most Belichick teams.

There are few things in life I enjoy more than watching the Beagles lose. Here’s to Andy Reid!

I feel your pain, Philly-o-Prof, my Steelers bit the big one yesterday too. But whereas your quarterback could’ve won the thing had he been given the chance by the brain-dead Andy Reid brain trust, my guy DID get the chance and pissed it away. We’re up by 10 with a minute to go in the first half, at about our own twenty, and Ben decides to air the fucker out. Interception! Halftime score… us by 3. Fourth quarter, same shit. We’re leading with five to go, marching down the field to eat up the clock… interception… game, set and match. Yeah, I feel your pain!

Sorry to hijack your thread CPP but,

    Scribbler50:
Ben has earned a little leeway to fuck up. It was a tough loss but one I’m willing to live with on Ben’s performance. BTW, one of the interceptions was because Santonio “Yet another overrated piece of OSU shit who consistently under-performs in big moments” Holmes took a casual, aloof, mildly-interested approach in getting to the spot and catching the damn ball when the defender took a more inspired and hands-on approach and freaking TOOK it from him.
Getting back to the point, the game was lost elsewhere too. I share CPP’s agonized rage in asking Mike Tomlin the same fucking question when he gave the ball twice to Moore (who I love but who is too fucking undersized for goal line punch-carries) he should have at least called a play-action to Ward in the end zone (or even a spread formation with a Ben draw) or something like that.
Anyway, I knew the moment Ike taylor’s defensive tip ended in Wayne’s hands for a TD that it was going to be a long fucking afternoon.
This Indianapolis team has some annoyingly freaky mojo, the way they win games this year.

    One more thing—
I was pulling for the Eagles if only to see Eli ‘I spewed forth from the nuts of Archie so I get to be a free-agent from day one’ Manning lose, so Reid’s calls pissed me off too.
Not a good Sunday PM, all in all, on the football front.

Sorry to continue the hijacking, CPP

Anonymoustache: Well said, I agree with your analysis overall. However, Ben, great as he is destined to be, is throwing far too many balls this year right to the opposition without a black jersey anywhere in sight. And at crucial times when we’re about to go in for the score. Or crucial times when we’re not like when we’re deep in our own territory. It’s getting to be a bit of Favre-itis. And I fear, just like Favre, Ben’s already an icon and no one on the staff is taking him aside. He’ll be fine…. but DAMN!

And one more thing as well, Stache… you were dead on about Moore twice up the middle. He’s a mini-van at best not “The Bus”.

CPP, your excessive drama-fiend emo personality makes male scientists look like football-fettish moronic walking penises.

I, for one am totally offended at this impression that prestigious professors of physiology are knuckledragging mouthbreathers on Sunday afternoon…

    Becca:
I’m a bartender not a scientist… so this knuckle-dragging epidemic is not as far-reaching as you fear. In my profession football watching is a job requirement.

There’s a lot of history behind that comment that is probably not apparent to the casual reader of CPP’s blog.

Short story, the lovely Goddess Isis (http://scienceblogs.com/isisthescientist/2008/11/on_the_need_for_women_to_defen.php)
ocassionally catches some flack for various things. Inevitably, somebody says “but nobody blasts Physioprof like that”. So I decided to start blasting CPP like that.
    Whether this is
    1) Equal Opportunity snark
    2) Carefully orchestrated meta-comment on how we react differently to bloggers based on gender
    or
    3) An attempt to be half as cool as Dr. Isis, in one small respect (i.e., attempting to start a feud with CPP)
is left as an exercise to the reader.
