The sick-fuck right-wing stooges of the Republican Party and our “Democratic leadership” have “struck a compromise” on the FISA bill. Glenn Greenwald has a full exegesis of the bill, so go over there to see the ugly details. Russ Feingold gives us the bottom line:
The proposed FISA deal is not a compromise; it is a capitulation. . . . The House and Senate should not be taking up this bill, which effectively guarantees immunity for telecom companies alleged to have participated in the President’s illegal program, and which fails to protect the privacy of law-abiding Americans at home.
Allowing courts to review the question of immunity is meaningless when the same legislation essentially requires the court to grant immunity. And under this bill, the government can still sweep up and keep the international communications of innocent Americans in the U.S. with no connection to suspected terrorists, with very few safeguards to protect against abuse of this power.
What the fuck did we elect these motherfuckers in 2006 for, anyway? Steny Hoyer, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi have sold out the Democratic Party.
My guess is that the Republicans have all kinds of shit on all kinds of members of the Democratic caucus, most likely evidence that plenty of Dems signed off in secret on all kinds of heinous shit that the Bush regime has been pulling for the last 7 years. Maybe Congressional Dems even knew about and ignored the torture schemes?
These Dems who fucked up and are now being blackmailed by the right-wing should be cut loose, instead of forcing the Democratic Party pay a political ransom for their sorry craven pathetic asses.

Of COURSE the dem’s are scared.
They were part of the intelligence committee which ginned UP the runup to invading Iraq.
They were part of the intelligence committee which gave UP Habeus and enabled the torture we’ve seen from Abu Gharib and Guantanamo.
They were part of the intel gathering efforts, for fear of being labeled in the press as SOFT ON TERROR. And the went along and blessed every ugly, sordid and illegal act.
And yes, we MUST replace them, post haste, and make them pay for their traitorous service in liege to the NeoCons, and the clusterphuckopia that is King George’s doing and legacy.
We MUST replace them and that’s what Blue America is all about.
One seat at a time. *G*
For god’s sake man, stiffen up!!! *G*

Oh, Christ. Just make goddamn sure that whoever you nominate instead can actually get elected. Because if your candidate scares the horses and gets waxed by a neocon thug, you and the other courageous progressives can count on spending the next eight years in a circle-jerk with Ralph Nader. Just sayin’.

Wrong color, PP. They are not red, they are yellow, for that is the streak that runs down their spines and is about a foot wide.
We send kids over to the Sandbox to get killed, but 105 Democrats could not muster the courage to run the risk of losing their jobs to do the right thing?
Pretty fucking pitiful.
