Enough Already With The Fucking Superdelegates

All I’m hearing in the shitstream media about the Democratic nomination is the goddamn motherfucking Superdelegates. And what’s worse is that even Democrats are acting like naive stupid idiots and propagating ideas that are favorable to the right-wing. Jesus H Christ! Enough already!

A prominent public kerfuffle over the role of Superdelegates in the Democratic nomination plays right into the hands of the right-wing wurlitzer of hate. You think the shitbag hateful right-wing machine isn’t going to use this to hammer over and over and over in the general election campaign the idea that the Democratic nominee–no matter who it is–was selected “undemocratically” and is, therefore, illegitimate? These wingnut bastards couldn’t be happier about the Superdelegate foofaraw going on right now. It plays right into their demented vicious schemes.

The mainstream media is fueling this like a squadron of fighter jets preparing for a mission. They’re dragging that fucking kid Superdelegate around on teevee and spreading the idea that he went on a “date” with Chelsea Clinton in exchange for his vote. This absurd bogus lie helps the motherfucking Republicans!

And Democrats need to sack the fuck up. The Democratic Party is a political party, and it enacts nomination procedures that serve legitimate purposes beyond just simple “majority rules”. This kind of shit has gone on since the beginnings of the party system in this United States. Do we really all need to go immediately for the fainting couch and smelling salts?

The purpose of a political party is to elect its candidates over those of the opposition party. Maximizing the effectiveness of a political party at achieving this purpose requires party loyalty. And the defining feature of party loyalty is the willingness to sometimes put the good of the party over the desires of the individual candidate or voter. This is why political parties fucking exist!

The Republican Party over the last 30 years has exhibited vastly better party loyalty than the Democratic Party. It is time for the members of the Democratic Party to exhibit the goddamn loyalty and discipline necessary for a party to take control of the government, like the Republicans have been so good at. Joining a political party means that sometimes you don’t get exactly what the fuck you want, exactly when the fuck you want it, but you accept it like a fucking grown adult because you know that it is for the greater good of the party.

Members of the Democratic Party–candidates, supporters, and voters–going ballistic over Superdelegates and propagating the idea that their role in selecting the nominee is somehow “illegitimate” and “undemocratic” is undisciplined and disloyal behavior. Do what you gotta do to get as many Superdelegates as you can, but don’t projectile vomit right-wing talking points just because you don’t like how the outcome is looking. It plays into the hands of the opposition, and it is totally fucking stupid!

I agree. In fact, if one were to talk about ‘principles’, why does someone who can’t even be bothered to check off a party affiliation box on his or her voter registration get to vote in a party’s primary? Checking a box is a pretty low bar, and yet delegates elected by people who are not Democrats (or Republicans) get to decide who the party’s representative will be (in some, but not all states).
