He was “the good one”?

Guess who is a predatory slumlord, who owns huge numbers of lower middle class properties, fails to maintain them, and who hounds the residents with persistent lawyers, demanding often invented fees and penalties that the people cannot pay? It’s that quiet young man who has been given an exalted position in our government.

Very few of the complex residents I met, even ones who had been pursued at length in court by JK2 Westminster, had any idea that their rent and late fees were going to the family company of the president’s son-in-law. “That Jared Kushner?” Danny Jackson, a plumber in his 15th year living at Harbor Point Estates, exclaimed. “Oh, my God. And I thought he was the good one.”

Read the whole thing. The whole family is a skeevy assortment of nasty ratfuckers and villains, poisoning everything they touch.

It’s sickening stuff, similar to shady debt collection in general:

In the cases that Tapper has brought to court on behalf of JK2 Westminster and individual Kushner-controlled companies, there is a clear pattern of Kushner Companies’ pursuing tenants over virtually any unpaid rent or broken lease — even in the numerous cases where the facts appear to be on the tenants’ side. Not only does the company file cases against them, it pursues the cases for as long as it takes to collect from the overmatched defendants — often several years.

This is why we need a right to counsel in civil cases, not just in cases of criminal defense. It’d be a lot harder for these assholes to get away with it if they couldn’t count on the poverty and limited means of their targets preventing them from fighting back. A lot harder for them to getting away with skimping on their obligations to actually maintain their properties, too.

I was initially going to compare them to predatory lizards with mouths full of nasty bacteria that bite their prey once and wait for them die miserable deaths of sepsis before eating their rotting corpses, but felt like that would be unkind to Komodo dragons.

Water buffalo only die of infection after being bitten by Komodo dragons because they tend to run into stagnant pools of water that are filled with their own feces. Other animals on the island, like deer and boar, are more likely to be killed by the lizard’s venom.

Kushner is like some sort of reverse-vulture that flies around shitting out putrid corpses everywhere he goes.

As CJ of The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin might say; most of the top 0.01% didn’t get where they are today by not being sociopathic parasites.

After reading the entire article; -ho-hum, so this is still going on. The only thing surprising was the name, but then again, not.
One question comes to mind. Who is responsible for these ‘victims’?
Some were smart enough to vote for Trump….Oh.
Still, who is responsible for the millions of people living in these conditions? Government? Their parents? The school system? You? Me?
I wouldn’t want to own one of those properties. The income wouldn’t be worth being sick to my stomach every day. But someone has to own them and make a profit; or the government buys them and we know how that can go.
    I’ll defer to smarter folk.
