“Fox and Friends”: Worst people in media

When an accomplished black woman congressperson gets up to speak seriously about patriotism, a topic Fox News pretends to care about very deeply, what do the awful Doocy and Kilmeade and their guest, O’Reilly, have to say? They mock her appearance, specifically her hair. Sneering at black people’s hair is often used as a line of attack by bigots; they might as well have declared that they couldn’t take her seriously because of the color of her skin.

BILL O’REILLY: I didn’t hear a word [Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA)] said. I was looking at the James Brown wig. If we have a picture of James, it’s the same wig.

STEVE DOOCY (CO-HOST): It’s the same one.

BRIAN KILMEADE (CO-HOST): And he’s not using it anymore. They just — they finally buried him.

[CROSSTALK]

AINSLEY EARHARDT (CO-HOST): No. OK, I’ve got to defend her on that. I have to defend her on that. She a — you can’t go after a woman’s looks. I think she’s very attractive.

O’REILLY: I didn’t say she wasn’t attractive.

EARHARDT: Her hair is pretty.

OREILLY: I love James Brown, but it’s the same hair, James Brown — alright, the godfather of soul — had.

EARHARDT: So he had girl hair.

O’REILLY: Whatever it is, I just couldn’t get by it.

Goddamnit, Maxine Waters’ job isn’t to stand up and look pretty for you goons!

I can’t hear a word O’Reilly says. I see one of his ears as a nucleus, and the other as the inner edge of the proton shell, and just can’t get by the enormous void between them.

so nice to see one of the positive effects of trump it is allowing people to make their racism more obvious. It emboldens them to say such stupid shit as that and to admit that they think nothing of it.
It is not like we did not suspect him to be that way is it.

I’m reminded of Richard Pryor, defending Leon Spinks against racist taunting in the media thirty years ago: “he doesn’t articulate the language well enough for me, and his hair is quite amusingly unkempt.” “Yo ofay, ain’t Brother Leon’s job to speak all crackah-pretty the way you want him to or comb his hair the way you want him too. His job is to knock motherfuckers down, and he pretty good at it. Better than you, I bet, though feel free to step inside the ropes with him and give it your best.”

Also, just to be fair here, Condi Rice was wearing an old-fashioned shiny football helmet helmet for 8 years. Never heard O’Reilly pick on her once. (Yes, I know, stooping to their level….ahm jess sain….)

What a horrible bunch. Perhaps it’s time…past time…to rev up the boycott Fox News advertisers campaigns again.

But that IS their job – literally. To heap scorn and abuse on anyone from the Left who might possibly make an impact on their audience. Distract, deflect, and dismiss. Typical bully response. Not a surprise coming form these paid shills.

Should use this as a test to see if folks can spot the racism in the video. If they can’t, then cut all ties until they realize the fucking in your face racism that is being heaped on Rep. Waters. This scorn from Fox is all because they do not wish to address the points she is making.

When I first clicked on this the ads came up with an ad for Canadian clothing store Le Chateau. One of the models in the ad is a young black woman with unstraightened hair. I can imagine how they’d react to an African American politician who had hair like hers, no matter how stylish. They’d claim it wasn’t professional, or in some other way inappropriate.

I’ve been asking my cable provider to drop Fox News from their menu. Completely ignored, of course.

@Caine saw that awful Daily Fail story this morning. WTF were they thinking.

re: O’Really and friends, is they don’t have anything of substance to say so they’re criticizing her hair.

Thanks for that info, Terska. Somehow, that evaded my radar. I’ll be raising merry hell with Baton Rouge, so as to ensure some legislative oversight on this tragic waste of university resources.

Maxine Waters stalked the halls of the State Capitol when I worked for the legislature in Sacramento and no one was foolish enough to mock her or underestimate her. She knew her stuff, stood her ground, and didn’t suffer fools lightly. O’Reilly and his vapid frat-boy buddies would probably pee their pants if they had to deal with Waters directly. I bet they’d scatter like cockroaches if Waters flicked the lights on them.

The thought of watching Fox and “Friends”, O’Really, Insanity etc makes my blood boil. No thanks. This item takes them into even worse realms. Sad.

Oddly Shep Smith seems to come across as on the wrong “news” network from what I gather never watching him. I do watch the old MTV VJ Kennedy on Fox Business sometimes before Maddow for contrast, On personal freedom issues I sometimes agree with her, but she doesn’t seem radically libertarian. Don’t bite the hand that feeds you. She often ticks me off. I guess I am a snowflake even if in the wrong generation. As Amy Roth said “Winter is coming.”

BTW O’Reilly has published yet another book.

45 keeps selling Fox in every tweet. Calling all other News, “Fake”. Fox lies about us ( not only about liberals, lies about everyone) and 45 is addicted to lies. Sometimes his lies sound “nice” in people who think pushing everyone down is the way to go up.
Fox gets advertisers cuz they get goers by pandering to base emotions and avoiding actual thought. Fox needs to be boycotted by more than individual action. Tell cable providers to jettison FoxNews Channel fox network okay FoxNews: no deal.

  14. slithey tove (twas brillig (stevem)) says

    Punctuation fail
    Drop Fox News Channel [period]
    Fox Network affiliates: okay
Fox News Channel: no deal (threaten dropping cable subscription]

If hair really is an issue, what does Fox think of POTUS’ coiffure?
Oh yeah, Trump is not a black woman. I forgot.

People in the comments are rightly disgusted by the racism. But let’s not ignore the sexism.
