I am ready.

I just finalized the schedule for my third course this term (Biological Communications, an independent study/writing course) and contacted the four students taking it from me. I’m prepared for my first lecture at 8am tomorrow, mostly ready for my second, and I have the student assignments all laid out and ready to go. I think I know what I’m doing.

Deep breaths. Deep breaths.

Assuming you are using that video as inspiration, I think I’ll suggest that all your students consider transferring to the University of Manitoba. (Similar climate you understand)

But I am sure you are a nice person. REALLY.

Anyway good luck with the new term.

Ah, I remember that feeling from academic days. Sounds like you do have things covered. Hope it goes well for the students too.

Ah, Stuart…those were the days. Perhaps Stuart could do a show to motivate politicians to do the right thing for a change, regardless of party affiliation. That would be novel.

    I think I know what I’m doing.

I think I never know what I’m doing. How do you get there?

Phhhtt, PZ, have you not been paying attention? You don’t have to know or prepare anything to impress in the new America. All you have to do is assure the students that you will be the best professor ever, that you have the best words, that they’re gonna love you. Slightly less then half of them will then vote you into the office of University President, where you will be able to smite your enemies and fire every education advocate in the faculty and staff, and appoint a full array of people who will reliably act with the primary goal of enriching you and themselves as soon as they are done shredding every accountability rule in the books, all while constantly reassuring you what a great man you are.
