Deplorable pairings

The other day, I posted a photo of Trump and Nigel Farage, which I suspect might have prompted a sudden efflux of vomit into the Atlantic Ocean from both sides (don’t do it again! Ocean acidification is a real problem!), but now I’ve found a picture that’s going to have a similar emetic effect.

Oh dog. Trump plus Andrew Wakefield. You have to read the lunatic demands anti-vaxxers are making of Trump now (Forbid the CDC from uttering the phrase “herd immunity” during your presidency, for instance). It’s almost laughable, except that Trump lacks the knowledge to be able to discriminate sane from insane policy, and might just take them seriously.

    Holy fuck.

    From TFA:

[…] given Trump’s well-known history of flip-flopping and taking multiple sides of any issue based on convenience, his antivaccine views are quite possibly the one set of beliefs that he’s been utterly consistent about for at least a decade.

(“Forbid the CDC from uttering the phrase “herd immunity” during your presidency”, for instance)

Ah, the school of logic (formally known as “la-la-laaaa, I can’t hear you!”) which insists that not being allowed to say “climate change” will change the fact that the city of Miami is spending millions on raising streets.

in order to help mitigate the oncoming disaster of the next administration is to encourage anyone who will listen to make sure all their vaccinations are up to date. One thing I’m certain of is that a lot of people are going to lose their health care coverage, but vaccines last for years and years, so get them while you still can. Also, if the shit hits the fan and the country degenerates into a nightmarish hell-scape, then you’ll be glad you are protected from some of the more deadly diseases.

I wonder if I can still get vaccinated for smallpox?

I thought Wakefield would be his pick for the next Secretary of Health and Human Services. Assuming nomination for Surgeon General falls through, of course.

Really. The election alone as so ridiculous none of the cabinet choices have the power to shock anymore.

@6 stinkyj: As far as I’m aware, yes. American citizenship is only required for elected positions, not appointed ones. So, it’s theoretically possible he could get a position in Trump’s cabinet.

  6. What a Maroon, living up to the 'nym says

    @6, @7,

Of course, he wouldn’t be able to get a very high level security clearance.

(The same would hold true of Trump, for all his legal and financial problems, but his comes ex-officio.)

Side note to PZ: can you program this site so that a puke emoji appears after every mention of Trump’s name?

People, could you please help pharyngulate an on-line poll on de Volkskrant? The statement is “The government should require vaccinations for children”. “Eens” means “agree”.

  8. rietpluim says

Thanks CaitieCat. Of course the wording is exactly wrong. It should read “Should parents have the right to deny their children necessary medical treatment?” I’m sure we’d have a lot more people on our side…

Hey, we ought to give the Trump camp so credit. They went, from “This is probably going to be bad” to “Hopefully, these next four years will just be merely historically awful” to “Is this a Holy motherfucking burning shit storm filled with dirty needles that will never end, oh no it’s worse.” in record time. I mean it just taken ten days. It took James Buchanan a full four years to become this fucking awful.
