    And yet, our so called main stream media will cite something Bernie Sanders says about income equality in an attempt to claim that “both sides do it”.

    My goodness, I did it. I don’t know why, but I did it: I read the comments in that Rolling Stone article. Why do I subject myself to such torture? It’s amazing how much energy gun enthusiasts can devote to justifying their fetish online. If I were them I’d be so tired of mashing keys that I wouldn’t have the strength to grab a gun afterwards (if I had one, that is).

    Ben Carson also dissed the victims in Oregon by saying that he would not have stood around and let somebody shoot him. He would have rushed the shooter.

    Donald Trump said something similar, noting that he has a concealed carry permit and can draw his gun quickly. He mimed drawing his gun while making Clint-Eastwood-in-a-movie faces twice during one of his recent speeches.

    Both doofuses repeated that the Oregon community college campus is a gun free zone. That’s not true, but most of the Republican candidates for President have pointed to the supposed gun free zone as a real problem. “Obama can shamelessly try and exploit any tragedy he wants, but it’s clear that gun free zones are sitting duck zones.” That’s what Mike Huckabee said. These are the candidates that said something similar:

    Ben Carson is a presidential candidate who knows very little about government or about public policy.

    Here’s an excerpt from a recent interview:

    Ryssdal: As you know, Treasury Secretary Lew has come out in the last couple of days and said, “We’re gonna run out of money, we’re gonna run out of borrowing authority, on the fifth of November.” Should the Congress then and the president not raise the debt limit? Should we default on our debt?

    Carson: Let me put it this way: if I were the president, I would not sign an increased budget. Absolutely would not do it. They would have to find a place to cut.

    Ryssdal: To be clear, it’s increasing the debt limit, not the budget, but I want to make sure I understand you. You’d let the United States default rather than raise the debt limit.

    Carson: No, I would provide the kind of leadership that says, “Get on the stick guys, and stop messing around, and cut where you need to cut, because we’re not raising any spending limits, period.”

    The host kept trying to explain the difference between the federal debt limit and the budget, but Carson never did get it.

    The thing is, Carson wasn’t only saying he would have rushed the shooter given the panic of the situation. He is saying the victims _should_ have done the same. Completely dismissing all the fear that may be rushing through them (panic has that kind of effect, you know).
    He then expects the other students to rally behind him when he starts to rush. Second he’s calling for the victims to deliberately suicide (martyr) themselves. “He’ll kill me as I rush him, but then he’ll be stopped by all the rest following my lead”, he implies.
    And to say that a bullet ridden corpse is less disgusting than a more regulated 2nd Amendment is just … _____ ugh.

    I am sure Ben Carson is on favor of allowing people to bring guns into congress, the senate, and the white house. Or no, I forgot, the powerful need to be protected, it’s only the bodies of the peons which can be riddled by bullet-holes. This guy has below zero empathy.

    Ben Carson also didn’t know that one person actually did rush the shooter. Carson was asked if he knew about Chris Mintz. He had never heard of him.

    Mintz is an army vet who tried to protect other students. He was shot in the back, abdomen, legs and hands, but he survived. Don’t know how this happened, but Mintz also had two broken legs. Mintz was shot seven times in total, and some reports say that the shots to his legs caused the breakage.

    Mintz had a chance to escape entirely. He was out of the classroom, but ran back in to see what he could do.

    Ben Carson has not addressed the racial divide in the USA. He does not talk about it.

    That’s probably what Murdoch means. Not mentioning the racial divide, and having zero policy proposals to address it, makes Carson a “real black” or a good and acceptable black in Murdoch’s eyes. Carson is a black man who represents the interests of white supremacists.

    Let’s not just allow guns in Congress let’s make settling arguments by shootout mandatory. We will have a special room in the office building where congressmen can settle their differences in a manly way.

    Incidentally, that Atlantic article was among Top Stories on Google News this morning in my browser. Rupie has made quite a splash to get there. He should venture out in public more often so we can get to know the true person behind all that ghastly guffaw called Fox News.

    And need we wonder why presidential candidates spew similar crap? Murdoch could be described as a thought leader in our world. I’m sure he sits on panels, joins in meetings, and stands near the cocktail bar with other important movers-and-shakers discussing the state of the world and how to solve its problems. Imagine these folks discussing whether Obama is black enough. Some of those would be important elected officials, of course, and well, it doesn’t hurt if you play along with the boss’s jokes.

    I prefer a universe where dada is an art movement.

    Carson has his facts wrong. President Obama’s 2009 stimulus kept six million people out of poverty. Obama’s first six years as president positively affected job creation — the USA has added approximately five times more jobs in those six years than during the eight years of George W. Bush’s presidency. The unemployment rate is now lower than it was when Obama took office.

    There are still lots of problem, yes. There is still a racial divide, but our first black president is for real when it comes to addressing economic issues for poor and lower-middle class workers. He could have succeeded even more if Republicans had been more cooperative and less blindly obstructive.

    Larry WIlmore had a very good reply to this situation, arguing that it shouldn’t fall to the first black President (not counting Bill Clinton, who had tendencies, to pick up the mop and clean up the racial divide. A racial divide caused by the white community, not the black community. Try to catch it. It was very good.
