    @PZ Myers #1 – Yeah, just a tad cynical. But then, this video looks like it was done in a small town on the California coast: I don’t expect the crowd’s reaction would be quite as enthusiastic if this had been a small town in Alabama or Mississippi.

    The title has always been true as far as i’m concerned.
    I have to say i was enjoying the video inmensely until the religions bit…it was the only part that felt tainted by fakeness.

    Well, eventually. dermestid beetles will have solved all our problems. What little shall remain of them, that is.
    So there’s that.

    @PZ
    The video caught me a bit unaware in a good way because of the cynical title.

    What is the technology? If it is fluoroscopy, they are exposing folks to a lot of radiation. Or is it more like what is used at the airports?

    @ravensneo:

    I wondered about the tech, but I’m pretty sure that all they are doing is using a Kinect to control animated skeletons sized to the bodies Kinect senses.

    Looks like Santa Monica to me.

  8. savant says

    Well, you know what I always say. Any problem can be solved with a large enough quantity of beetles.

  9. Morgan!? the Slithy Tove says

    Yep, Santa Monica. Filmed on Third Street Promenade to be exact. The Promenade is a tourist destination and gets a grand cross section of the populace. Used to live walking distance from there.

    Sweet.

    I’m not sure how it applies to the present situation, but it seems like a goal to shoot for.

    Why? Do you think those people secretly hated each other?
