The gay marriage probably forced him to do it »« Are you a good witch, or a bad witch?

Life goes on

When I stepped off the plane at Heathrow the other day, my phone pinged, and I got a message from my daughter: “We’re getting hitched.” Very efficient. Brevity is a virtue. It reminds me of me: after Mary agreed to shackle herself to me for life, I mentioned it to my parents as we were going out the door — “By the way, we’re getting married.” We didn’t have email in those days, or I would have used it.

I’ve since gotten a few more details — I had a good idea who “we” were, but it was nice to get confirmation — and she’s now publicized that thing newly engaged women all do.

hitched

That’s one down. Now I must mention that I have two sons who are eligible bachelors…if anyone is interested, contact me.

Congrats to Skatje and her future husband.

Nice for the happy couple yes but just when you think you are cruising into comfortable retirement… babysitting!

How many goats did you get for her? This is a traditional, biblical marriage, right?

    (Congrats to all concerned!)

Congratulations, PZ. Please don’t stone her to death the night before the wedding if you discover that she is not a virgin.

That worked so well for the cat!

Congrats to you daughter and her fiance for taking that big step in life! But I think you have gone too far to offer up both of your sons to any interested party. This is exactly the kind of polygamous thinking that the far right warned us would become second nature once we abandoned the one-man-one-woman rule.

What’s the background in the photo, by the way? It looks pretty.

It’s from behind a waterfall at Rifle Falls State Park in CO.

The ring needs to go to a jeweler to get properly sized.

Yeah, since it was a surprise-proposal, I couldn’t tell him my correct size. We’re waiting on some sizing rings to get here from the company he got it from. Since it’s titanium, the band will have to be completely re-made, rather than re-sized.

    Congratulations,Skatje!

PZ, you failed to mention how many goats and chickens you require as a dowry for your sons. Or possibly, how many goats you are willing to pay.

Oi, you are blocking the beautiful view with that piece of compressed carbon.

I mean… congratulations, i hope you are both very happy together :)

I just realized how completely impolite I was in my post @3.

Congratulations Skatje and fiance. May you have many happy years together.

Congratulations to the betrothed couple and their families. I understand the brevity, PZ. When my son became engaged last month, his notice to me was an “oh, by the way…”.

Depends…what’s the groom price on them?

    Congratulations to Skatje and spouse-to-be.

When I started hanging out with not-spouse, my sister teased me that when we got married, I’d casually mention it to her at some random point during a phone call.

“How are you?” “Oh, ok. Work’s busy. We got married last weekend. You?”

Since that’s exactly what I would have done, we went for not marrying instead.

If I remember correctly, you said the first one married gets either your house cat or two groundhogs (father’s choice) as a wedding present they must love and keep forever.

I wonder which one lives longer: a groundhog or a house cat.

#15… Only one of us? I think you just set me and Connlann up for a debate on which one is the good looking one.

Lovely news, Skatje. May you and your beloved be the best of friends and the best of partners your whole life long.
