A little bit of good news

I opened my mail, and there was my very first royalty check from The Happy Atheist.

Whoa, I said. Whoa.

I guess a lot of you bought copies. Thanks! Buy some more! You know the paperback edition is out now, right?

Part of this is getting sunk into buying some gear for the lab — I’ve been desperate to get a good digital camera for the microscope. Anyone know anything about Jenoptik?

You know, if you invest that money now you could get a great return on it and buy even more digital cameras.

I know of this Ark themed park that is looking for investors…

I read the book by borrowing it from my local library just this week. I promise to buy a copy though! (I liked it a lot.)

Dang, reminds me I need to finish it. Tomorrow I take the Redhead to the doctor. A good time to knock off a chapter or two with the iPad.

interesting. the one (duplicated) review there had only one substantive comment (once you got past the ad hominems), that it was, “self-plagiarized”.

Not quite good enough to name a band, but might still be the first hit single (or download, these days).

You deserve every penny of it. The hubby and I both enjoyed reading it. I’ll mention it at our Freethinker’s picnic this weekend, so perhaps we can contribute to a few more sales for you.
Isn’t that just like a teacher? He gets some extra money and what does he spend it on? Why, something for his classroom, of course! I know I used to be guilty of doing the same thing.

Just to let you know that if you’ve read the book and like it to review it. As of this writing Powell’s only had two reviews, a double post by a troll disparaging the book for the author’s feminism (among other things). I left my review and reported the troll, but a few others ought to ameliorate any lasting damage.

One of the things I really hate about websites like the Jenoptik one is that pricing can be found…..nowhere. How am I supposed to know what the relative value of their products is without that information. Yuk.

This and the income you earn from FtB. should set you up for life – if your like is that of a Zebra fish

I was recently informed that you were a proprietor of FtB, acted like a dictator, had admin privileges ;) edited posts without permission etc. etc. ad infinitum. This person is a well educated Catholic who seems to believe every word that falls from the fundament of Thunderguts.

Wait, I thought all those rational peeplez were boycotting it? Some weird guy on Twitter told me! ;)

Prompted by the Leica containing comment by Björn Brembs @ #11, will you now be able to afford to buy the Leica Rangefinder you owe J*hn Kw*k for intellectual mendacity or whatever it was.

He knows famous people or something.

I could remember if I cared.

Don’t know nothing about the Jenoptik cameras, but we recently bought several Leica cameras at work similar to those Björn Brembs (#11) mentioned, and I think you’d like the standalone mode some of their models provide. They are equipped with an SD card slot and a remote to control exposure parameters and to take pictures – I imagine that could be helpful for undertaking field trips should you wish to leave your computer at home.

Do… Pr. Myers is putting his own money into the lab?

Is that what academic scientists usually do with their royalties?
