    Oh, sure, gastrotrichs.
    But never any love for kinorhynchs, chaetognaths, or loriciferans.

    Anything with ‘gastro’ in its name makes me reluctant to google.
    Then there’s whatever that is that Chas typed.

    I see they are all on the continuum of microbes to man.
    I’m voting for the loriciferans as our new overlords.

    At the link above, we learn that gastrotrich means hairy stomach. My Google translate capabilities were not up to the task of finding a similar word for ‘hairy face’. Help?

    It’s a feature I share with Mary’s Favourite Metazoan.

    Awesome! Blog about the genome of the elephant shark (Callorhinchus), and my day will be perfect!

    Anything with ‘gastro’ in its name makes me reluctant to google.

    It just refers to the cilia on the underside of the animal. They’re the main locomotory organ.

    On first glance I read the headline as “gastrich”. Which gave me a momentary talk.origins flashback….

    @Johnnie Canuck
    Wouldn’t “face” prefix be prosop- or prosopo-?
    So, try prosoptrich or prosopotrich. Maybe? I like it. Claim to be a prosopotrich and see how it goes.

    Lociferans are ok I guess, but my vote goes to Trichopterans for their art skills.
