While I was preoccupied with promoting women’s rights in Ireland, Time magazine apparently decided that atheists were miserly skinflints who lacked a social conscience. Ed is encouraging a letter writing campaign — send your disagreement to letters@time.com — but maybe we should think about sending a mission of atheist care workers to New York to enter their editorial offices and labor to bring them out of their wretched ignorance. It seems a shame that supposedly literate, intelligent workers are doomed to be doing their job so poorly.

We probably won’t get past security into their editorial offices, but we could moon them from the street. I’m prepared to get a temporary A+ tattoo on my butt.
“Time”? Are they really a magazine or something? I’m pretty old myself, so my memory’s getting bad, but aren’t they the ones who put Bin Laden or Khomenei or Hilton as the “Man of the Year” about a thousand years ago, when I still had enough hair?
Are they now as heavy, in journalism terms, as People or Sports Illustrated, dull wastes of space and natural resources that no one would use as toilet paper even in an emergency, if they were printed on soft, double-ply?
And is it true the Washington Post now IS Time?
You might as well tell me Pat Roberts or Mitch McConnell doesn’t think much of me, due to my atheism. It’s barely worth the ridicule I’m expending here, just to kill time.
To be fair, Hilton did build a chain of really, really good hotels. Too bad his heirs are so damn screwed up.

I tried reading Time back in the early ’70sI gave up and found I got more out of News Week and was sad to see it fold. Time was not then nor it seems now selling real news the whole news but just selling Time and just staying as close to what ever is conventional wisdom, thought at the time as they can. They just keep the form of a news magazine.
