Edit: Now that I’ve actually read it, I see what you mean about a children’s book. Adorably cute, thanks for the link!

@andrewryan at 8 – Somehow I didn’t see your comment, but we were thinking the same thing! Anyway, anything related to giant squids is worth double-posting!

Where do I buy this in a dead tree format. I may not have great-grandchildren yet, but I have a passel of just-at-reading level children in the environment who could be cleverly inoculated. 5, um 6, um 8 copies? – More?

BTW, anyone got a good recommendation for a science encyclopedia series for a 7-year old? We’ve chewed through a somewhat dated Time-Life series we bought second hand, but I think she’s ready for something a little more detailed.

    Amazon has a listing of
‘Secular Children’s Books About the Universe and Evolution’

These are some of the titles. Looking through the available pages, they seem to be good.

Our Family Tree: An Evolution Story by Lisa Westberg Peters

The Tree of Life: The Wonders of Evolution by Ellen B. Jackson

Life on Earth: The Story of Evolution by Steve Jenkins

This one, mentioned above in the comments, I have. It is well written.
Evolution: How We and All Living Things Came to Be by Daniel Loxton

Lovely book, should be in every primary school – it’s pitched just right, with attractive illustrations – now I just need to think who I can send the link to … d’oh, of course – I know someone who is a primary school headteacher! Perfect!
