The good news is the the original percentages have already reversed (and then some).

I do admit that I mostly like it here. I think this will be reality in WA soon.

Lost of comments from bible-thumpers in that poll.

To be fair, that’s Wenatchee. Not exactly WA’s hub of enlightenment and education.

Some days I hate that I’m so pedantic.

My first thought was NO, it should be legal everywhere.

http://www.wenatcheeworld.com/polls/… remembers IP address. I generally Pharyngulate voting 2 or 3 times. I wonder how long the IP address is kept….

As a Washingtonian, I was initially disappointed that the poll was initially against the sane side. Then I realized Wenatchee is in eastern Washington, which is basically the west’s brain-dead brother, and breathed a sigh of relief.

Tried but failed to sign up for account to point out that there is NOW a “right to marriage,” established in the Loving decision (loving that name). And opposed by the 60′s bigots these idiots are so faithfully emulation.

I just voted, and now that it’s properly where it should be at 89% yes and 11% no the poll is no longer pointless; it’s highly meaningful, scientific, and relevant.

    a comment at the poll:
“In the course of 60 seconds the poll numbers changed from 1974 to 2134 in favor. Something’s really fishy.”

    Tee hee.

Some commenter at that website noted the sudden jump in favorable votes. They asked what’s wrong. HaHa, pharyngulated!

When will people learn that bestowing established human rights upon a minority group is not up for popular vote just because you dislike the group in question?

Washington says yes to the tune of 92%. There goes the neighborhood. My neighbor Vern will probably be the first to sell his house to a gay couple. God knows what Vern is going to do now with his wrecked cars?

PZ, you’re from Washington, right? You know we’re good people, right? …Right?

Here’s a promising one from the state of Jessica Alquist (who’s case the judge is still considering)…

Do you think R.I. needs more or less separation between church and state?

    More: 46.8% (133)
    Less: 47.5% (135)
    I’m not sure: 5.6% (16)

    http://news.providencejournal.com/breaking-news/2012/01/new-warwick-ri.html

Is there ever a case where you can need less separation of church and state?

Ahhh, Wenatchee. Home of the Wenatchee Sex Ring Scandal, one of the very last of the “day care sexual abuse hysteria” cases. (My cousin was working in the prosecutor’s office at the time, poor man.) Home of apples, and snow, and, well, not a hell of a lot else.

I really think full marriage equality will happen here in 2012. The current domestic partnership laws require that all marriage rights be given people in registered civil unions, we just have a DOMA law in effect. Governor Gregoire has come out (no pun intended) in favor of full marriage equality, and thankfully the Ouget Sound can outvote my ass-backward side of the state. Here’s hoping…

Gee, got home, saw a poll that looked like like it needed help, but posted over 5 hours. Voted anyway, and not surprised by the turn around to progressive side. Go Horde!

I think we’ll see it happen. Hoepfully sooner rather than later as people wake up to the fact that its flippin’ 2012 already not 212 BCE.

Also to the fact that teh Gayz actually aren’t that bad & are just like well me & you.

    @ 18. Cat’s Staff :

Is there ever a case where you can need less separation of church and state?

Well there’s the laws that say Churches are separate from paying tax – & that they’re exempt from anti-discrimination laws.

A little less special separate status there might be an improvement!

Hey now all you people hating on Wenatchee. I lived in that town for 31 years and I can tell you that there is nothing wrong Wenatchee, WA that burning it to the ground, salting the earth it sits on, then paving over it wouldn’t fix.

Oh, and don’t blame its bigotry and idiocy on the Eastern half of the state. I live 20 miles from the state’s eastern border and we don’t claim those idiots either.

Why the fuck is this question always presented as a “should” question? The only relevant question is an “is” question. Is gay marriage legal?

Yes, according to the Constitution of the United States. If two adults are allowed to enter into a contract with the State, the equal protection clause makes very clear the fact that any two adults may enter into the same contract with the State.

    Fuck you, republicans.

    @ 29

Oh, I completely blame it on this half of the state. Between the nuclear radiation, the desert sun, and the fundies it’s a perfect recipe for insanity.

Wait, Wenatchee is up in the woods. what’s their excuse?

I got over there after y’all Pharyngulated the crap out of it already, but when I saw that it was Wenatchee my immediate reaction was “well no wonder“. We in the Sound area try our best to keep a handle on those ignorant fucks on the other side of the mountains.
