So this is the first time I’ve even looked at this thread & holy crap, *I’m* nominated? Have I been nominated before? Sure, I contribute, but I write so much I make people really work for it if they want my contributions. I don’t know how to write less than 4 paragraphs about *anything*. Doesn’t being pithy & concise count for anything round here? X-P

I know I can’t vote b/c I’m not a molly, but can I say I’m absolutely humbled but encourage people to vote for someone whose been contributing over a long period of time? I’ve really only been commenting since 3d4k and most of that was figuring out how to be useful ’round here.

Not that the thought isn’t really, really, appreciated, and of course, I don’t control nobody, but I would encourage people to honor someone whose really contributed, not someone like me who might have made a few helpful posts recently. Since I haven’t historically paid attention to these things, I don’t know who might be overdue, but I’m sure it happens and Caine is practically an off-line Pfft! of all Pharyngula knowledge, so, y’know, I’m certain that she’s right about Jafafahots.

Just my 2 cents about encouraging recognition of long term contributions. Carry on.

(and see? I didn’t even intend it, but I ended up with 4 paragraphs above. That actually made me laugh)

alright, I stand corrected. I’m full of errors today, actually. I usually don’t have to admit more than an error a week, and I think this is the third today.

Then given the open voting conditions, I vote for Jafafahots.

(I assumed that the first Molly came from PZ or something. Now I’m wondering where I got the idea that only Mollies vote for future Mollies… Hmmm. I guess now I should start looking at this thread then.

And, yes, I’m opinionated and talkative, but it doesn’t necessarily mean the modesty is false. I know I’m a good writer. I know I have a broad vocab and that I’ve studied a number of things. In my off-line career, I’m actually known as an innovator and give a fair number of lectures. But I also believe and have believed for a long time that we often don’t reward the people who toil steadily, over long periods. So what I said was just consistent with that.

Actually, Being able to weigh in on my own also makes me feel better about getting others’ votes. Y’all can vote using whatever criteria you like (not that you wouldn’t anyway). I made my vote according to my priority of paying back long term work so I don’t need to convince/employ other people to vote according to that value to get it put in practice.

Wow, this is a bit of a shock. But one of those pleasant ones, and I certainly welcome it after a day that needed some brightening. (Last week before finals is rough when you’re both a procrastinator and a perfectionist.) Looking forward to spending a bit more effort living up to this over the upcoming break!

Yes – this is me…***exactly***

I’m only taking one class, but for the classes I’m teaching I didn’t even finish the final exams until the night before I was to give my students their study guides, and then I didn’t pass out the study guides in class but had to post ‘em on the class website…

…and my paper for the class I’m taking? Oh, I’m far past the minimum length, but I’m not half done and have another 25 or 26 hours to finish. The only blessing is that I’m a fast writer after I’ve done my research…

This is me, procrastinating even more….
