Lazy Sunday: Lady Godiva’s Operation

A bunch of times I’ve heard this song being described as about a botched “sex change operation”. Whoever thinks that obviously wasn’t listening very closely and doesn’t know their queer history very well. It is indeed about a botched surgery that was often performed on trans women once upon a time. But it’s not about SRS.

It’s about a botched lobotomy.

April Gardner, aka Slignot, offers some interesting insights into Die Cis Scum, in the wake of a twitter debate with an old cis pre-transition friend of mine that followed the arrival of this:

(made as a custom birthday gift by LD Originals and Custom Couture)

My first time wearing it was met with a cis guy running up behind me to catch up and say “I LOVE your jacket. And someday I eventually will.”

I told him that unless he’s also scum it doesn’t apply to him.

Cross-Dresser Success Stories has been re-initiated.

A seventy-eight year-old pensioner in East Sussex is set to become the oldest trans woman to ever have SRS under the NHS (insulting, archaic language in the article, btw).

Janet Mock offers an important rallying cry for asserting that the lives of trans women like CeCe McDonald, Paige Clay and Brandy Martell do count.

And speaking of Brandy Martell…

A trans student teacher in Ohio was fired for discussing his being trans in class, which apparently is some kind of “violation of code of ethics and professional conduct” or something. God I’m sick of cis people’s ethics and codes of conduct.

Violate the hell out of them.

And finally…

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO HELP FUNDRAISE FOR DR. CARMILLA’S AGEHA EP!!! Help bring a wonderfully talented trans artist’s music to reality!

I love the meme pic, and I love your jacket… I kind of want one for myself… especially after reading Janet Mock’s article to find that it only took 3 comments to get some grue scum claiming trans women are just men dressed as women… lovely…

I’d be happy to custom a jacket for you (or any other person on the blog forum here) hit me up via my etsy shop (link in the blog above) 😀

thank you, although I didn’t sew the jacket, its an Old navy jacket I had that was the right size & I just customized it w/the requested logos. (though i’m perfectly capable of sewing one easily enough, i sew all sorts of stuff).
Also, in case anyone is curious about the term for the symbol on the sleeve, its a ‘Trans power fist’ (any symbol w/that sort of fist is known as ‘a power fist’ and placing it in the middle of the trans symbol, boom trans power 😀 though its sadly not my own design, though i do have a similar logo of my own)

I’m worried that I’m going to end up with a lobotomy. I trust psychiatrists about as much as Scientologists. Fucking bastards never helped me explore my GID as a teen. Also, one made me self admit because he thought I was a danger for worrying about dpminionism. Another one dissed my gender identity and made me take an unneeded antipsychotic. Let’s not even get into the sequelae of long term psychotropic treatment…

Do you stalk my internet history? =O

    Love the jacket!

I was surprised by the BBC article to be honest. They were pretty decent with the pronouns.

Just listened to the prototype ageha EP instead of sleeping like i should be. This remaster will definitely receive my cash dollars. I recommend it to lovers of music or indeed any ordered sound.

There’s something awesomely defiant and Die-Cis-Scum-esque in the song. In her dream, Lady Godiva is:

“making love to every poor doctor’s son”

The same doctors she obviously hates. The ones she “once was screaming” against as they sedated her.

Before she loses everything, she dreams one last beautiful revenge.

just listened to the song, yeah if you get botched SRS off it, you really weren’t payin attention to the lyrics man. good song, one i actually wasn’t familiar w/until now. BIG fan of Lou & the velvet underground though 😀 (favorites are Chelsea Girls w/nico, Heroine because its so crazy, and i’m waitin for my man). great song, thanks for sharing 😀
