My Little Pony Mare-A-Thon Episode List

Okay, everypony! I’ve gone ahead and tentatively picked the five episodes we’re going to watch and discuss on Sunday. Feel free to go ahead and download them, or queue them up on YouTube in advance if you want.

1) – Best Night Ever

2) – Applebuck Season

3) – Sisterhooves Social

4) – Baby Cakes

5) – May The Best Pet Win (IT HAS A BAAAAT!!!)

6) – Feeling Pinkie Keen

7) – Winter Wrap-Up

So, does that work? Should I eliminate a couple to make it a bit shorter and easier?

Anyway, we’ll start the mare-a-thon at 1pm (13:00) Pacific / Vancouver time (or 9pm GMT) on Sunday afternoon. Hopefully that’s still early enough in the evening for European readers.

I’ll have a post put up on Sunday for us to comment and discuss in, we’ll take little ten to twenty minute breaks between episodes, and I’ll be tweeting along as we go. :)

Yayzies!

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.

    *squeeee!*

With breaks, that’ll be about a four- to five-hour marathon; seems fine to me (of course I’m in US Central time.)

Natalie: have you already seen all the episodes? Half of these are new to me.

YAY applebuck season! bunneh bunneh bunnehs ^.^

  3. Chirico says:

Might it be easier just to stream them on ustream or livestream etc? Then you could just talk about it in real time in the chat.

    • Sebastian says:

I think that would go against the websites rules, seeing as you’ll be streaming a TV show free.

I do think it’d be really great to have a live chat somewhere though, maybe on IRC? I’m not aware of how difficult it is to set up though.

      • Chirico says:

I don’t see much difference between x people individually watching something on youtube and one person streaming themselves watching youtube for x people to see. If the creators are cool with it being out there, it shouldn’t be a problem, right?
But if for whatever reason that’s not an option, yes IRC is really easy to set up.

        • Sebastian says:

Yeah, I don’t see a difference either, but on a streaming site if we’re noticed the host could get a mark against their account (or get banned, depending on the site). Which probably isn’t worth the risk. :(

    • Pteryxx says:

It’s complicated… basically, Hasbro is tolerant of MLP episodes being available all over the internet, but under current copyright law (*spits*) they COULD issue takedowns if they wished. Livestreaming sites may have their own policies against rebroadcasting but again, they don’t necessarily enforce them strictly, especially in the absence of a copyright-holder claim. More eyeballs means more advertising revenue for the livestreamers after all.

For what it’s worth, MLP fan sites do livestreams of every new episode, and they’re going to be livestreaming the HUB marathon starting in a couple of hours:

Do you love ponies? Of course you do, who doesn’t? We love ponies so much, in fact, that Bronystate will be streaming the Hub’s “We Love Ponies” marathon, in addition to the new episode. Check out our flyer above for more info. Hope to see you there!

Also FYI, Hasbro gave a message of support to the brony fan community earlier this week:

Markarian, the Co-Chair at Everfree Northwest, recently gained an audience from one of the higher ups at Hasbro. Their general message about us is extremely positive overall. If you have been worried about their stance on us, this is definitely something to pick up and listen to. Some of the bigger names in the community (Myself included) completely back this.

(I’m on dial-up so haven’t viewed the video yet.)

Basically, Hasbro knows that the HUB channel’s fairly obscure, so they’re purposely NOT enforcing their rights under copyright law so that MLP fandom will grow – through Internet word-of-mouth and community events, exactly like the one Natalie’s hosting.

      • Chirico says:

Seems like the worst the stream site could do is shutdown the account, in which case you could just make a new account. :P
But seeing as Natalie hasn’t said anything at this point it doesn’t really matter.

    Squee!

I have only just started on Season 2, so I plan to be caught up with the series prior to the marathon.

Comments on what I’ve seen of Season 2 so far: Q Discord is amazing :o

I’ll be with you for a while but not to the bittersweet end. We’ll start at 20.00 local time and we’re talking four or five hours. I’ve discovered my mood swings and general dysphoria gets worse if I’m up too late.

Nataie, while I may have your attention – can we still send you silly and serious questions via gmail or did that window close when you put up the FAQ?

    • Natalie Reed says:

Yeah, you can still send in questions, but no guarantees whether I’ll necessarily have time to answer them all.

      • Anders says:

Oh, whenever you run out of ideas (at this rate that would be in 2030 something) you just take a few posts to discuss reader mail.

For instance, would it be ok to ship you with the Doctor? :p

        • Natalie Reed says:

          Depends on which Doctor. ;)

          • Anders says:

It’ll have to be someone else anyway*… I know exactly nothing about Doctor Who. It’s never been on in Swedish Television what I know. Which lends itself to another question – if I wanted to start on the Whoverse, where would I start?

And can we get a list of your ten favoritest episodes? Or your opinion on the eleven (?) doctors?

*[thinks]not Water-Smurf… we don’t want Natalie being sexually assaulted by a Dalek and these things always happen in Water-Smurf’s histories… maybe CoffeeIncluded could brew something up… [/thinks]

  6. michaelbrew says:

Bah. And here we’re on 24/7 ops starting tomorrow. And I won’t have downtime that day until 1800 Pacific! Oh, well… I’ll still attempt to watch some with the crappy ‘net we get out here.

  7. Glazed McGuffin says:

God damnit, Natalie, you are going to be the end of my GPA. But I’ll study extra hard today and tomorrow because there’s no way I’m missing this.

  8. Inflection says:

If you want to shorten it, I don’t know if BNE is a good one to start with simply because it has several ponies acting counter to their usual personalities (Flutterrage coming to mind first). If the primary reason is the song, I’d put WWU first and scrap BNE.

However, it may be a bit late to change the lineup, so if you don’t, that’s fine.

Since commenting on a blog post is a little clunky for realtime chat, would you like an IRC channel too? I have a friend with a very stable server where I spend plenty of time. It’s easy to log and there are plenty of freeware IRC programs like mIRC and Ircle for people to use. We can open up #ponython and all gather to chat.

Which My Little Pony are You?

I’m Twilight Sparkle. No shit, that character is so much me it’s depressing. Except I’m horribly disorganized rather than anal-retentive. And more guilt.
