One Law for All is calling for a rally in defence of free expression and the right to criticise religion on 11 February 2012 in central London from 2-4pm.
We are also calling for simultaneous events and acts in defence of free expression on 11 February in countries world-wide.
The call follows an increased number of attacks on free expression in the UK, including a 17 year old being forced to remove a Jesus and Mo cartoon or face expulsion from his Sixth Form College and demands by the UCL Union that the Atheist society remove a Jesus and Mo cartoon from its Facebook page. It also follows threats of violence, police being called, and the cancellation of a meeting at Queen Mary College where One Law for All spokesperson Anne Marie Waters was to deliver a speech on Sharia. Saying ‘Who gave these kuffar the right to speak?’, an Islamist website called for the disruption of the meeting. Two days later at the same college, though, the Islamic Society held a meeting on traditional Islam with a speaker who has called for the death of apostates, those who mock Islam, and secularist Muslims. I just found an in-depth interview I did with Virginia Haussegger on Australia ABC News 24’s One Plus One programme which aired in September 2011 on Youtube. In the interview, I talk about everything from apostasy, sharia law to death threats and moral relativism and how religion isn’t a personal matter…
The Pak Falcons have hacked into the Facebook and Youtube account of a Council of Ex-Muslims of Britain member and have been threatening our members. Nothing new there – they are Islamists after all. they have even changed their voice and refuse to show their faces because that is just how ‘brave’ they are.
Below is the pathetic video they left on the account that they hacked. In case you’re wondering it’s not freedom of speech that they are against – just speech against Islam, Sharia, Mohammad, the burka and on and on.
Err Pak Falcons, I don’t think you quite understand how this works. Freedom of speech means we can speak about anything including Islam, Mohammad and Sharia. You say you won’t tolerate it; well, tough. Because we will keep on talking and mobilising and opposing the barbarism that you defend. [Read more…]
You have to love the Guardian. They never waiver from defending political Islam every which way they can.
They have published yet another article on why we should support Islamism in the Middle East.
Wadah Khanfar, the director general of al-Jazeera tells us that Islamism is just Muslims involved in the public sphere.
To me that’s like saying Stop Islamisation of America or Teabaggers are just Americans involved in politics or the English Defence League is just Britons involved in the public sphere. Err is that what they are calling far-Right fascist politics today and if so I must have missed the memo. [Read more…]
In 2006, Ayatollah Lankarani issued a death fatwa against Azerbaijani writer Rafiq Tagi for his writings. In 2007, a Baku court sentenced him to three years in jail for criticising Islam and Islam’s prophet Muhammad. He was pardoned and released later that year.
But now they have finally killed him. [Read more…]
‘I will be celebrating my 27th birthday in a few days and as I enter into a new year of my life, I think it is time to renounce religion openly…The CEMB is doing a great job by providing a forum for Ex-Muslims and taking a stand against the brutality of this religion.’ – Hassan
‘After 20 yrs of Islam, I finally gave up the prison for my freedom. My main issue with Islam is the awful injustice against women and as a woman myself I could not stand for a religion which belittles me…well done CEMB for creating this unified voice for ex-Muslims!’ – Pariah
These are just two of the many testimonies of ex-Muslims on the Council of Ex-Muslims of Britain’s (CEMB) website and forum. [Read more…]
Student, atheist and blogger, Aliaa Magda Elmahdy, 20, posted naked pictures of herself on her blog to show her “screams against a society of violence, racism, sexism, sexual harassment and hypocrisy”. Showing her body particularly at a time when Islamists in Egypt are trying to secure power is the ultimate act of rebellion. Don’t forget Islamists despise nothing more than a woman’s body. In case you didn’t know, women are the source of corruption and chaos and must be covered up at all times and not seen and not heard. [Read more…]
Maryam Namazie has been confirmed as a guest co-host on “The Jinn and Tonic show” on November 19th, 2011. The Jinn and Tonic Show is a bi-weekly live Internet chat show discussing Islam, including calls from Muslims. It is the sister show of The Magic Sandwich Show and is akin to an Islamic oriented version of The Atheist Experience. [Read more…]
The Norwegian far-Right extremist Anders Behring Brevik who murdered 77 people in cold-blood in July had his first public hearing today. As I’ve said before whilst the far-Right targets Islamism, they are both two sides of the same coin. [Read more…]
In September 2011, I spoke at a meeting on Sharia law in Copenhagen, Denmark organised by the Danish atheists. The discussion was on sharia law but as in most talks on the issue, I also dealt extensively with the far-Right, the racist scapegoating and blaming of immigrants and Muslims for the crimes of Islamism and also the pathetic excuse of a pro-Islamist left who sides with Islamism at the expense of the population at large… [Read more…]
Charles Hebdo, the French publication that was firebombed a few days ago for mocking Islam and Islam’s prophet Mohammad is gathering messages of solidarity to publish in its next issue, which will be out this Wednesday in France. Here’s mine:
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the firebombing of Charlie Hebdo’s office but the attack does bear the hallmarks of the political Islamic movement as – for them – this is business as usual and all in a day’s work. They bomb offices, threaten anyone who criticises Islam and Islamism, and where they have political power they slaughter those who speak their minds in cold blood and in broad daylight.
Those who condemn the firebombing of Charlie Hebdo’s office whilst also criticising the publication for mocking Islam’s prophet Mohammad are (at best) missing the point (and more likely apologists for the Islamists). [Read more…]
For those of you who don’t know much about my background and why I became an atheist, my piece in 50 Voices of Disbelief: Why we are Atheists may be an interesting read. It’s the first time I have published it on my blog below:
I don’t remember exactly when I stopped being a Muslim. Looking back, it seems to have been a gradual process and a direct result of my personal experiences, though I would like to think (or hope) that I would have eventually become an atheist.
Having been raised in a fairly open-minded family, I had no real encounter with religion that mattered until the Islamic movement took power on the back of a defeated revolution in Iran. I was 12 at the time. [Read more…]
