I’m sure you’re wondering where I’ve been this weekend. I built myself a new media server using Serviio so I won’t get caught flat-footed on another NASA live-stream, so I can stream it to my PS3 in the future. My wife and I went to see Brave and Avengers at a real honest-to-goodness drive-in (yes, we still have those here!) on Saturday night. And I’ve also been tinkering with a whole-site backup of Freethought Blogs, trying to run it off my netbook just to see what happens (and to give myself a playground in case I decide to go all mad scientist). Plus, I’ve been on overnights for work for two straight weeks, and look to have two more before getting back to some semblance of normalcy Wednesday or so. Sorry I’ve been absent.
Jeffrey “Chamba” Cruz is a comic artist whose work is heavy on Capcom representation. One of those representations apparently includes a piece he drew for a Megaman tribute…
…done in the style of Rob Liefeld.
The weird forced perspective, the mangled body proportions, the hidden feet, the clenching teeth, the pouches everywhere, the face that looks like it got hit by a shovel… it’s all perfect Liefeld. Right down to the little spark on the helmet. A pitch-perfect parody.
But why you gotta ruin X like that?!

Jason:
The smoke/clouds behind him are another one of Liefeld’s artistic tics. Often the smoke is used to obscure feet.

Needs more pouches, a few dozen more teeth, bizarre shading, more poorly-conceived detail on the gun-arm, and extra muscles. Even the Liefeld parody is better artistically than Liefeld’s actual work!

His fist needs to be at least the size of his head. And each of his thighs needs to be the width of his torso.

I don’t know, the shoulder pads are kinda small and I think I see pupils in the eyes. But yeah, the awkward pose and weird physical proportions are spot-on.

This seems semi on topic. http://eschergirls.tumblr.com/ A tumblr that’s devoted to posting pictures of comic women in weird “sexy” positions. Rob Liefield is a repeat offender :3
The redraws are really fun and informative.

We have a drive in outside Baltimore called Bengies, that boasts the largest screen in the nation.
It’s a fun place to go. Unfortunately, the owner is currently wrangling hard with Royal Farms, who wants to massively increase the lighting of the franchise they recently parked right next to the theater.

I kinda like Liefield. After all, if someone with his *ahem* skills can make it as an artist, it means there’s hope for someone like me!
…that’s what I think in between banging my head on the table, anyway.

It looks like Megaman is so muscular he is cracking his own armor. Not a good strategy.

At least his spine is intact.

I was about to say, that looks awfully smooth for Liefeld. Needs more extraneous little lines.

Pretty close, but I think Alyson Miers points out what’s lacking. Also, the thigh thing. They’re not the width of his shoulders each.

Oooh, know what else he’s missing? An absurdly large gun in his right hand-fist-thing that’s all askew like it was added in after the fact.
I’d also hate to see what would happen if Roll wandered into frame. Robotic fourteen-year-old? Nope. Suddenly she’d have gigantic pendulous globes and an S-shaped spine.

Oh yeah, his weapon is absurdly tiny for a proper Liefelding.
Also, Roll would have an edgy backstory involving being a ninja, hooker or ninja hooker.

The cracks are also a Liefeld standard, Driveby. That guy made the interior of the Titan’s jet look like it was made of crumbling concrete.

Not Liefeldian enough. Looks like a Liefeld imitator who actually knows a bit of art.
Needs more pouches, more teeth, extra muscles, larger hands and thick legs. He needs to be not-quite-holding a gun, and perhaps some random blades hanging from some undefined spot on his back.
