According to The Atlantic Wire, San Diego’s entire 18 minute show got compressed (via time dilation, rogue Hobbits, or a misfire — we may never know!) into a mere 15 seconds.
I put it to you dear readers: worst, or best?

I think I’d have to go with worst. For starters, the smoke from the “early” ones made it difficult to see the “later” ones. Add to that, everything was all in one spot and really boring as far as fireworks go. I’m quite sure some just thought to save everyone some time and got them over with because if it had taken 18 minutes to fire them all off, it would have been entirely non-spectacular. I saw more creative shows from the ABF in the ’80′s.

It looks like a crappy recreation of the Death Blossom scene from The Last Starfighter.
So, like the movie, I rate it as “bad, but not the worst.”

Instead of compressing from 1080 seconds to 15 seconds, maybe just down to 600 or so? Still be quite a heavy bit of fireworking, then finish off with a single second of what we saw in the video. Just firing off a massive salvo for a finale.
That’d be ideal, at least from my POV.
That said, at least people who went to this firework show have seen something unusual this year, and something to talk about and to mentally embroider for years to come.
I can’t say that I’ll remember anything firework-related about our local Canada Day fireworks in a month’s time…

Awesome. Maybe better over a whole minute or two, but that was intense.

I’m a pretty little flower. Like a prom date, maybe? Enjoy the silence, are you for supper? Turtles. Now let’s go dream about little breaded chicken fingers.
Every time I see one of those spambots, I’m reminded of this scene from the Venture Bros.

I live there… I was in OB (marshmallow fight!) and we could see the sky towards downtown light up, and we thought it was the grand finale.

My feelings are pretty accurately depicted by this poem:
“My candle burns at both ends
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends -
It gives a lovely light.”
