Stephanie Zvan posted her Science Online 2011 panel over at her blog, and I thought I’d take this opportunity to remind you of it, since I was at the panel as the live-tweeter. You can see me on the video in the front row sporting my screaming green Scicurious t-shirt and seriously lacking in the hair department.
It’s All Geek to Me from Smartley-Dunn on Vimeo.
The audio quality is a bit iffy, but the subject matter is spot-on. How do you folks communicate in geeky ways?
It’s a nice shirt, yes. You shameless self-promoter. 🙂
I shouldn’t say that or I’ll get a science shuriken in the face.
I am totally diggin’ that tshirt. 🙂
Okay, I LOL’d at Jenova’s Witness. Could never wear it though. As good as FF7 was, I much prefer the plot of FF6.
How do I communicate in geeky ways? Usually via t-shirt:
I roll twenties
No, I will not fix your computer
I see dead servers [splunk]
Jenova’s Witness
Could you come back in a few beers?
Shirt of Smiting +20
Pong
(Yes, I got lazy and didn`t include links to all of them)
I hear ya, Jase. As much as I love Nova Science Now, Carl Sagan’s Cosmos is the best science television show in history, which forced me to burn the Nova t-shirt my nephew got me for my birthday.
FFVI might have a superior story, but I still love FFVII. Even if I didn’t enjoy the game, I’d still have to wear that shirt because my father-in-law is an elder in the Jehovah’s Witness church. I also plan on wearing it when I have a chat with some Mormons this Sunday, thanks to the tagline “Church Of The One-Winged Angel of Latter-Day Summons” written on the back of the garment.
Okay, I wouldn’t go reductio ad absurdum like that! It’d end up in my closet only to be taken out when I have an appreciative audience. My problem (and it’s MY problem) is, I like to wear t-shirts that reflect things that I find to be awesome. The whole one-winged angel thing actually kind of bothered me. Not just the cutting-off of Jenova’s wing, or the Oedipus complex Sephiroth had going for him, but the theme of raping the planet to serve her purposes (or Shinra’s purposes) like a planetary parasite seemed derivative of Chrono Trigger. I know, I know. Every RPG plot is derivative. I found it a bit too on-the-nose.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how I speak geek. *bows*
Damn, dude. I might have more hair than you.
Agh. Bastard. I KNOW. My hair started disappearing at a much faster rate than yours. It’s like one day I had a mullet, the next I had a skullet.
Mullet? Pics! Must have pics!

You’re welcome. For what it’s worth.
Now let us never speak of this again.
And you don’t even have kids! Watch out, Jodi, baldness that extreme might be contagious.
