Hi! I'm a tech guy, skeptic, feminist, gamer and atheist, and love OSS and science of all stripes. I enjoy a good bit of whargarbl now and again, and will occasionally even seek it out. I am also apparently responsible for the death of common sense on the internet. My bad.
I have opinions. So do you. You want to share them with me. I would like to do likewise. Please don't expect a platform for proselytizing that will go unchecked and unchallenged, though. Contact me via the clicky thingies under my banner.
The commenting rules are simple: don't piss me off. This rule has worked for me for a decade; I have never found a need for any other rule, because any other rules leads to rules-lawyering. Just remember --
this is my property, not yours.
I loaded it for free last night when I found out about it, I was happy to since I can not seem to find my original copy of Portal anywhere in the house. Of course this brings up the issue of needing to purchase Portal 2 in the future…
Will it work in Wine?
Will it work in vBox?
Will it work in Cedega (if all else fails)?
I’d say so.
Apparently Steam runs fine under WINE, and the only thing I’ve seen is that you might have to add -dxlevel 80 or 81 to the command line options. I haven’t tried it myself. I’ll give it a shot soon. Apparently it’s got Platinum status on a few distros at Appdb.winehq.org: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=9432
I’ll have to give it a shot soon (before it’s no longer free!). Thanks for the heads-up!
