Notice how bumpy the egg’s surface is? Like it was soft on its way out, due to a nutritional defect? Jodi’s first impression was that the “cross” is where the egg was last in contact with the chicken’s sphincter muscle. In other words, they’re worshipping a holy asshole-mark.

    It looks like a piece of clay, the way the cross looks “pinched” up into its shape. I don’t know much about poultry; if the egg could come out soft and malleable (like a baby human’s head) could they not have molded it themselves?
