Is the Catholic Church a force for good?

Christopher Hitchens and Stephen Fry vs Archbishop John Onaiyekan and Ann Widdencombe MP. I’m a bit curious as to why a member of parliament in Europe, her sphere being politics rather than debating (I say this with tongue firmly in cheek), thinks she can effectively out-argue Fry, much less Hitchens, on this point. She certainly falls on her face at it. Onaiyekan seems like a genuinely good person; it’s a shame he is tasked with this insurmountable mountain of evidence against the Church.

    I need to quote one of Fry’s best quotes. “The only people that are obsessed with food are the anorexic and the morbidly obese, and in erotic terms, that is the Catholic Church in a nutshell.” They are obsessed with sex because they self-select only those that are completely celibate or those that are so perverse as to bugger kids.

    And that’s saying nothing of her voice! Her voice is the very stuff that people on this side of the pond imitate and mock!

    It’s a shame her only answer about the question of women being priests was that it “betrays a vast ignorance” and that she believed the whole line about “becoming Jesus” when you’re ordained. Women can’t become Jesus, they don’t have a dangly bit!

    Whatever. It’s all just a big shell game of who can trick the most people, and the cream of the bullshitters rise to the top.

    Widdecombe..the fat frigid virgin-on-the-ridiculous is reknowned in the UK for being a huge supporter of religion and promoting family values, she hates gay men and lesbians and anyone who’s “different”…think of her as Bushes ugly twisted sister. She left the Church of England when they allowed female priests and then joined the evil Catholics..that why she was there…she loves co-towing to religion and loves celebate men in dresses dripping in jewels !!
