#mencallmethings: “fascists,” “imbeciles”

Jerk on my blog, in response to my recent post on The Amazing Atheist:

Clearly none of you militant fake feminists have ever watched his channel. His intellect and morality surpass most of yours in either field. His vitriol is very understandable. You internet fascists are devoid of any ability to process reason, logic or reasonable debate. You are almost identical to hard line religious nut cases when it comes to these facets of thought. When one attempts proper intellectual discourse with you and nothing but inane garbage is thrown back at you then the only recourse is to try and shock and offend your deluded minds into sanity. I find myself doing this to fundamentalist “feminists” and Christians just as a way of channelling my frustrations. You people are destroying the real feminist movement with your ignorance and giving real intellectual and intelligent women a bad name. More and more people are finding it increasingly difficult to differentiate feminism from you imbeciles with your “rape culture” nonsense. You are the Westboro Baptist Church of Feminism.

#mencallmethings

I see. So in an effort to persuade people that The Amazing Atheist isn’t really sexist or misogynist and we should give him a chance to explain himself, this person goes onto a woman’s blog and tells her that feminists are fascists.

Also, this guy is an expert on who is and is not a real feminist.

I’m reminded once again of Lewis’s Law: “Comments on any article about feminism justify feminism.”

Note: The #mencallmethings hashtag does not say #allmencallmethings, or #mostmencallmethings. If you want to learn more about the history of this hashtag and why people started using it, please read But How Do You Know It’s Sexist? The #MenCallMeThings Round-Up and Why Are You In Such A Bad Mood? #MenCallMeThings Responds! on Tiger Beatdown, where the hashtag originated. And please do not start a “but not all men are like that, so the #mencallmethings hashtag is reverse sexism!” argument. That has been addressed, at length, in the comments in the #mencallmethings: “FUCKIN HOE,” “FUCKIN FEMINAZI SLUT” post, as well as elsewhere. Please read Why “Yes, But” Is the Wrong Response to Misogyny if you’re wondering why I will not take kindly that that particular line of conversation.

Yup, they really are doing a bang-up job of proving how reasonable and justified and not-at-all sexist or misogynist TAA and his fans are … impressive!

I can’t get over this line:

His intellect and morality surpass most of yours in either field.

We’re talking about an empathy deficient victim blaming rape apologist. His morality most certainly does *NOT* surpass Greta’s. It doesn’t even equal it.

When one attempts proper intellectual discourse with you and nothing but inane garbage is thrown back at you…

Pronouns – how the fuck do they work!?!

… just as a way of channelling my frustrations.

Intellectual discourse, huh? All together now: “Oh, poor baby!”

Oh dear, outside of their native habitat, YouTube, they stand out as pathetically lacking a scintilla of wit or intelligence. This one really thinks being disgustingly unpleasant and offensive will “shock” us into being an asshole like him? Ironic he finishes with the WBC cos that is exactly their tactic too….

  5. John Horstman says

Lolz, I started giggling uncontrollably at, “His intellect and morality surpass most of yours in either field.” Now I’m reading the rest in that wonderful semen-fetishizing-MRA-as-Saruman voice (sadly, the original dramatic reading seems to have been pulled from its home on Vocaroo and I can’t find any reposts). How DARE we not engage in “proper intellectual discourse”, whatever the flying fuck that’s supposed to mean.

Pro-tip to commenter, in the event you actually stumble across this blog post: even feminists can’t read minds, so in the event you really are trying to engage in good-faith debate, it would be really helpful if you would take the time to pose more specific critiques than ideograms that you apparently think everyone must inevitably interpret in the way you intend.

Dunning-Kruger effect? He would channel his concentration into some books and articles, but alas….they’re all bias!

Note from GC: I’m getting an influx of comments from fans of The Amazing Atheist. Most of them are variations on the same themes that have already been addressed ad nauseam: you took the rape threats out of context, he wasn’t serious, you’re taking this too seriously and are making too big a deal of it, comment moderation oppresses my freeze peach, etc. These are not passing comment moderation (although they’re being posted in this separate blog post for the purposes of documentation), but the commenters are not being banned. However, I am letting a handful of the more extreme comments through, for purposes of public documentation. This is one. The commenter has been banned. Also — please take note of the commenter’s handle.-GC

Wow, the replies hahahaha. Is that really the intellectual caliber of Greta Christina’s cult members? No wonder she has to delete all the antithetical comments. I think I’m going to become a far right wing, woman raping clergyman just so I’m metaphysically as far away from you coma inducing halfwits as possible.

Well… if that’s what your brain presents to you as the shining logical course, then by all means you must follow your bliss.

This is presumably meant to be shocking, but really just manages to be puerile and rather grubby.

It lacks the brevity required to sting, as much as anything – a poorly composed confection of calculated offensiveness. Playground stuff, really.

It is odd that hateful anger can be so crushingly dull.
