“Coming Out Atheist” Now Available for Pre-order!

Coming Out Atheist cover
My upcoming book, Coming Out Atheist: How to Do It, How to Help Each Other, and Why, is now available for pre-order!

The print edition can be pre-ordered now at Powell’s Books.

It can also be pre-ordered at Amazon. However, be advised (if you haven’t been already) that seriously abusive labor practices have been reported at Amazon. Please bear that in mind when you’re deciding where to buy my book — or indeed, where to buy anything. (For the records: Powell’s employees are unionized.)

The book is scheduled for publication on April 16, in all three formats — print, ebook, and audiobook. If you want the print edition, and you want it shipped as soon as it’s published, go ahead and pre-order it today!

I’ve worked at Amazon for the past eight years and feel they treat us pretty good. There is an open-door policy with all our managers and employee contributions are highly valued. I do know of cases of intimidating managers, but they are usually disciplined and taught how to be more interactive with their staff. I am very pro-union and would be the first demanding one if the need arose, but I think we have a good thing going here.

Buy where you feel your conscious lead you, but I do think the linked-to Salon article was a little heavy-handed and unfair. (No, I am not a manager nor do I get any incentive for increased sales)

Really looking forward to the book. Thoroughly enjoyed “Angry” and “Bending”.

ashleylynnwilson @ #1: Quick question: Do you work in offices, or in a warehouse?

In either case: I’m glad your experiences at Amazon have been good. But that doesn’t make them universal, or even the standard.

Warehouse. Actually I’ve worked in three different ones and spent time at several others. And my experiences ARE the norm. The jobs are hard and very physical, but employee safety is actually priority, not just something that looks good on a report. No, it’s not the perfect life but pay and benefits are excellent and we are appreciated.
