Taking a break

I’m taking a break from the blog. Probably a week or two.

Reasons:

1: I’m behind schedule on my new book, Coming Out Atheist: How to Do It, How to Help Each Other, and Why. I need to get cracking.
2: There’s some health stuff happening with my family. I don’t want to get into it publicly right now, but it’s sapping time and energy.
3: The bastards are grinding me down somewhat, and I want to re-charge my batteries to continue the fight.
4: I promised Jen McCreight I’d pull together the beginnings of a library/ resource guide for Atheism+, and I really want to finish.

I can’t take care of all that, and also write/ moderate the blog. So I’m taking a week or two off. I’ll be back soon.

Good on ya and best wishes for the break.

…Miiight want to turn comments off so you don’t have to deal with us during that time. We’ll still be around. ;>

A well-deserved break, Greta. I hope it helps.

By the way, if comment moderation is an issue that’s grinding you down, it might be something some of us fans can help with. I’d be willing to volunteer to help you moderate (using my privilege powers for good), and I’m sure others would as well.

Have a pleasant break! I look forward to your return with fully-charged batteries powering more passion, more articulate arguments, more poking at privilege and oppression, and just generally more awesomeness.

Dammit, those are all good reasons, so I will withhold my outrage. All the best!

I won’t. #3 shouldn’t even be happening. I’ll continue my outrage at that.

I still can’t believe all this grew out of the Rebecca Watson thing. She didn’t say anything that should’ve been particularly controversial. And yet we’re here.

Take your time. I hope the health issues pass. COME BACK STRONGER! My morning commute will seem a little longer with out your blog to read, but as long as I know you’ll be back I can deal. (before someone points out I shouldn’t be reading and driving, I ride the bus)

    Late as ever, am I.

Greta, you and Jen are two of my heroes. I was too late to comment on her goodbye blog entry, so this is for her too.
Thank you for all of your hard work, for standing tall and speaking loudly and thinking critically. You are pillars of the atheist+skeptic+feminist community. I am so glad to have ‘met’ you, and I am a better person for it.
    Thank you, you wonderful women.
