I really identified with this article. I also wear makeup everyday, without fail- but sometimes I have days where I wonder ‘why’ or for who? I often come across the question if the makeup that I am wearing is more for me or for someone else. This semester I just took a class called ‘The Philosophy of Sexuality’ where we touched on several different authors and philosophers regarding sexuality, and we read an article talking about this very thing. As much as I don’t like to think about it, I can certainly see how when a woman puts on makeup, or goes the extra mile by doing something fancy to her hair- it is ultimately putting on a mask for the public for her to look more sexually attractive. Men DEFINITELY do it as well, but I think that society definitely pin points women more in this case. Men do it more with working out, and women do it mainly with makeup or their appearance. I liked this article, thank you!
