Atheist Meme of the Day: Believers Should Understand Cognitive Errors

Scarlet letter Today’s Atheist Meme of the Day. Pass this on; or don’t; or edit it as you see fit; or make up your own. Enjoy!

If you care whether the things you believe are true — including religious or spiritual beliefs — you should understand cognitive errors and biases that commonly lead the human mind to false conclusions. And you should be willing to subject your beliefs to rigorous scrutiny, to filter out these biases as much as possible. Pass it on: if we say it enough times to enough people, it may get across.

In fact, everyone should learn about cognitive biases. It should be part of standard school curriculum, if you’d ask me.

Agreed! Are they still teaching cursive in grade school? If so, they need to stop doing that and start telling stories about little Billie and Susie who thought they could always tell when the phone was about to ring, but forgot to count the times where they said the phone would ring but nothing happened.
