Brief Blog Semi-Break/ Shameless Self- Promotion Opportunity

Hi, all. I’m taking an unscheduled break from the blog for a few days. I’m dealing with some health issues: nothing to worry about, nothing life- threatening or anything like that, but I’m in a fair amount of discomfort and my energy and attention span are both very low. I should be okay in a couple/few days; for now, though, I just don’t have it in me.

So talk amongst yourselves! Take this as an opportunity for shameless self-promotion. If you have a blog, or a cause or something you’d like to promote, plug it. Purely commercial plugs for businesses are discouraged, but if you’re an artist/ musician/ event promoter or something like that and want to tell us about what you’re doing, please do. If you’re a blogger, please tell us about your blog: either link to a specific post you’re proud of, or just tell us about your blog in general. And if you’re simply a blog fancier/ general gadabout and want to plug someone else’s post or project that you think is neat, please do that too. Thanks, and I’ll see you soon!

Well, okay, I have the obligatory personal blog, but with a misleading name: sexyredheadednuns.org
It’s not yet the season, but I love to celebrate a non-religious Xmas (and found Greta’s blog via an Xmas-themed podcast (Feast of Fools?), so I have a site for it: secularxmas.org
If you like old computers, you can indulge in such voyeurism at the Obsolete Computer Museum, which hasn’t been updated in years and is now more like the Obsolete Obsolete Computer Museum: obsoletecomputermuseum.org

How can I resist the opportunity to promote Science Gossip at sciencegossip.info? It’s a site which links to blog articles covering science news, a science metablog if you will.

GWS Greta. Hope it aint bacon flu!
    Shamelessness in 3,2 …
I have a band I’d love to plug.
_From The Ashes_ can be found here: myspace.com/ashesthefrom, as well as on last.fm as “From The Ashes (Melbourne)”. Australian indie rock at it’s finest (if I do say so, which I do – hey, a muso without ego is nothing).
Also, at Dangerousintersection.org, there’s usually a healthy amount of philosophical discourse going on. And occasional fundy-bashing.
    Cheers

Get well soon! *sends chicken soup*
Lately I’ve been obsessing over The Daily Asker ( http://thedailyasker.blogspot.com ). She’s experimenting with the idea that “women don’t ask” by asking for something every day and posting about what happens and what she ends up getting. And, um, I have a blog that I really need to update. ( http://nadiacooke.wordpress.com ) I think I’m going to write about The Atheist’s Bible once I’ve finished reading it…

I usually use this to promote my music….
So I will again. Every week at chaotimusic.com I release a free song.
I’ve been doing this for 95 weeks.
This weeks song is called “Thank the Lord”
Its about prayer, and loaded with references to western elitism, religious hypocrisy and theological contradictions.
Just like most of my songs.
But what do you expect of a former preacher….

Hope you feel better, Greta! I’m mostly a lurker, but also a novelist-blogger, so here’s some self-promtion: a blog post here –
    http://www.kitwhitfield.com/2009/01/exorcism-isnt-game.html
    – that might interest the readership of this fine blog. It’s an analysis of how ‘demonic possession’ is portrayed in movies, how the belief in demonic possession causes harm in the real world, and why we ought to think about that if we’re going to portray it… You can link to it by clicking on my name below.

    Yay!!! Shameless self-promotion.
For those of you in or near the Chicago area I am in an improvised rock band called Reset List. We do concerts of entirely improvised music based on audience suggestions. Everything is improvised from the chord progressions to the lyrics, harmonies, sax solos, and dance breaks.
We have a run of shows coming up in July at the Viaduct Theatre.
Check us out at http://www.resetlist.com or http://www.viaducttheatre.com

An opportunity to shamelessly self-promote on one of the best writer’s blog; how could I resist?
Check out http://cyberlizard.com for an eclectic variety ranging from atheism to Lego to geek culture.
Thanks, Greta, for the opportunity and I hope you feel better quickly.

I hope you feel better soon, Greta! I’ve been going back through your older posts, and I really enjoy your writing, especially what you’ve written about religion. The first of your posts I read was the one about Atheists and Anger (which a blogger on Xanga linked to) and I immediately became a fan of your blog. Since then, I’ve visited your site regularly. More than anything, your posts make me think.
    I have a Xanga:

I wrote a post about Professor Richard Dawkins’s “The God Delusion.”

I also write fanfiction. (I only mention it, because I write about same-sex pairings and because you wrote that wonderful post comparing religion to fanfiction.)

Thanks for writing your great blog, Greta, and I hope you feel better soon.
(Thanks to everyone for the links.)
