I took a lazy summer afternoon drive round the area, getting to know the new neighborhood. At one point, I found myself driving slowly along the lakeshore, through a residential neighborhood with spectacular views. It also had… chickens.
A whole group of chickens went crossing the road. This one was the most colorful, and has a pleasing strut, and I believe he will work well for all of your chicken-crossing-the-road memes. I gift him freely to you, my darlings. May he fulfil a need you probably didn’t know you had.
Why did the chicken look cross?
Because it wanted to be different to the other chickens.
I would never give a link to a post of chicken-crossing-the-road jokes. I have my self-respect and dignity to consider.
Said as butter doesn’t melt in my mouth.
I think that’s a pheasant? :)
Chicken, pheasant, they’re all Galloanserae.
That looks like a Ring Necked Pheasant with a clipped tail.
It looks like a Mongolian-type Ringneck Pheasant. They are different from the ones we see in Michigan.
Oh, that’s a relief! I thought I was the only one who looked at that and went “PHEASANT!…but…it’s the wrong shape…”
There are feral chickens along the trail near Bothell Landing. Some are quite exotic looking…
Definitely a pheasant, but I’ve never seen this variety, with such a red face! It must be blushing due to extreme embarrassment of some kind. A walk of shame, perhaps…?
Why did the chicken cross the road?
Cuz the chicken is smarter than the road. If the road were smarter, then it would cross the chicken.
The real question is why the chicken crossed the road.
It was too far to walk around it.
Actually, instead of making jokes, the sight of a dinosaur of such magnificent proportions and colouring should probably strike fear into our very hearts.
So pretty.
