Taking Some Time Away

On top of everything else going down, B and I ended our two year relationship yesterday, so expect me to be scarce for a little while. I’m sorry, I just can’t even right now. I’ll be back eventually, and hopefully there will be future adventures with B – just this time, we’ll be out as friends rather than mates.

It’s going to take some time before I’m all right with this. He is the person I would’ve liked to have spent an appreciable portion of the rest of my life with, but we couldn’t work through some of the more serious issues. It happens. Sucks, but happens.

I’ll leave you with the first photo I’ve taken as a newly-single person, which turns out to be two of the 8-inch, 30-caliber guns from the USS Boston. They were busy in 1898, according to the plaques. One of them fired the first shot at the Battle of Manila Bay, while the other apparently “dismount[ed] three guns in the Spanish fort at Cavite.” I have no idea why they’re in Hamlin Park, but perhaps I’ll investigate for you after I’ve drowned my sorrows and so forth.

Image shows two enormous guns mounted on concrete stands, with a screen of trees behind them.
Two huge guns at Hamlin Park, Shoreline, WA.

I want to wish Ed all the best in his new ventures. Hopefully, I’ll see my readers here when I get back. If not, you can catch me on social media.

Thordammit!! First I see that Ed is leaving FtB, and now I’m gonna have to do without your blog for at least a little while. How am I gonna pass the time at work when it’s slow?? Busy work? I don’t think so!!!!
I’m joking of course. I’m sorry that things didn’t work out. My advice is to have a drink (or 8) and take your time. The rest of us will be waiting. I might even go back on Twitter if my with drawl gets too bad. Good luck

I’m very sorry this is happening to you. Take whatever time you need – we’ll somehow manage. Your well-being is what is most important right now.

Those are some pretty awesome guns – I would not want to be on the wrong end of them. From Wikipedia:

Both of Boston‍ ’s 8-inch (203-mm) guns were placed at the new Seattle Naval Hospital in 1942. After the hospital closed, the guns went with the site to the new Firlands Sanitarium owned by King County in 1947. At some point after 1952, the guns were moved to Hamlin Park, in Shoreline, Washington.[8] However, county records do not indicate when the guns were placed in the park or why it was done.[9] Of the two guns displayed at Hamlin Park, the easternmost gun bears a plaque which states that the gun fired the first shot of the Battle of Manila Bay.

Hope you are coping. I’ll wait patiently.

Not to put any pressure on you, but when you get back, I want to know if I should convert to Mormonism as Ed suggests because of that seer stone. I’ll wait to see what you think of it before making any decisions.

No tequila, but I’m having some gin and tonic on your behalf. ♥
As I said before, take care of yourself and the rest will take care of itself. Love you!
    *hugs*

Jedi hugs if you want them. You’re awesome, and I hope you come back to writing here when you feel like you want to. In the meantime, I’ll certainly add your tumblr to my reader too. (Silly xkit stopped working, and tumblr-the-site is now wauuuuugh for me to use.)

If there’s anything your fans can do, put the schist-signal out and I’m sure we’ll come running!

Crappe. First I wreck my wife’s car, then I go to FTB and see Ed is leaving, and now this. And it’s the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Which triggered the marriage of my parents the very next day. I guess there needs to be some perspective.

I’m very sorry Dana. I’ll be hurling pumpkins in about five weeks, please come and see me in Snohomish.

Oh no! Not losing your blog too. (Selfish initial reaction.)

Sorry to hear this and wishing you all the best.

Sympathies and virtual (((hugs))) from me if you want them.

    Hey, Dana
Dang, I’m really sorry to read you’re having such a rough time. I’m rooting for you, and wish that all your strength and awesomeness did not have to be tested by so much suck at this time. Or, really, at any time, but c’est la vie…she can be most unfair, n’est pas?

Dana, you are the main reason I come to FTB. Even more so now. Take as much time as you need, but please come back. We need you more than ever.

You are in our thoughts and hearts Dana! As others have said: Take your time and get right with everything. We’ll all be here waiting for your return.
