Barber’s Site Features Christian Reconstructionist

Is there any limit to how extreme Matt Barber’s new site BarbWire can get? Apparently not. They’ve got a genuine Christian Reconstructionist, Lee Duigon, writing for them now. And he thinks Christians who aren’t anti-gay enough — and to a Reconstructionist, I assume that means Christians who don’t think they should be stoned to death …

Schlichter: Democrats Will Go Full Atheist Soon

Kurt Schlichter, whose very first credit on his bio is that he was “personally recruited to write conservative commentary by Andrew Breitbart” (not terribly impressive, I’m afraid) writes at Townhall.com that by 2024, the Democratic Party will be officially atheist. The column is pretty much the God’s Not Dead movie, or a Chick tract, turned …

Klayman Sues Blogger for Quoting Court Ruling

Remember that court ruling in Larry Klayman’s divorce/custody case that suggested that he may have touched his children inappropriately? He’s now suing cartoonist Ken Avidor for quoting that court ruling, something I have done as well. It was filed a year ago and dismissed but now Klayman has refiled it.

White Supremacist Arrested After Anti-Semitic Shooting Spree

For anyone who wonders why some of us keep a very close eye on the far right fringe, look no further than this story. A former KKK leader, white supremacist and longtime anti-Semite has been arrested after a shooting spree at two Jewish centers in Kansas that left three dead.

Huckabee: TSA Makes Us Like North Korea

Sometimes I wonder if there’s some sort of secret competition going on among conservative politicians and pundits to see who can say the most idiotic thing and still remain a viable candidate for office. If so, Mike Huckabee may have the inside track on the payoff at the moment:

Far Right Hypocrisy in Nevada

I’m getting more than a little tired of seeing the reaction from the far right to this standoff in Nevada where a rancher refuses to either start paying or stop grazing his cattle on federal land the way every other rancher does. The hypocrisy and the dishonest overreaction could hardly be more obvious.

American Decency Association: OMG! North Korea!

The sound and fury emanating from the Christian right over the Supreme Court’s decision not to hear an appeal of a New Mexico case where a photography business refused to shoot a lesbian wedding is music to my ears. The American Decency Association says we’re now like North Korea!

Judson Phillips Has a Thinking Problem

Some people have drinking problems; Judson Phillips of Tea Party Nation seems to have a thinking problem. In his latest missive, he stirs up a frothy mix of bad math, false assumptions and lies to claim that more than a million Democrats voted twice in the 2012 election, ensuring Obama the win.

Meet the Wingnut Candidate: Bob Marshall

There are a lot of far right candidates out there saying astonishingly stupid and appalling things, but Bob Marshall, a state legislator in Virginia now running for Congress, may have them all beat. Even the Moonie Times is reporting on his history of bizarre and extremist statements.

OMG! Obama Press Secretary Likes Kitschy Art!

Leave it to Jeff Allen, the editor of Matt Barber’s right wing echo chamber BarbWire, to freak out about a couple pieces of kitschy art and draw completely unconnected conclusions from it. After finding out that White House Press Secretary Jay Carney and his wife have a couple of Soviet-era posters, he clutches his pearls.

Jindal: Only Senators Get to Cheat

Bobby Jindal apparently thinks that cheating on one’s wife and staying in office is a privilege extended only to senators, not representatives. In the wake of Rep. Vance McAllister getting caught making out with one of his staffers, Jindal thinks he should resign:

Ooh, a New Anti-Marriage Equality Argument

Josh Charles, who will soon be attending Regent University Law School, promises in this Worldnetdaily column to deliver “the argument against gay marriage you’ve never heard of.” Okay, my interest is piqued. Spoiler alert: It’s not new and it’s really dumb. And here it is:

Perkins Finds a Poll He Likes

Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council is one of those anti-gay leaders who has tried to keep a stiff upper lip in the face of the overwhelming evidence that the Christian right is losing on gay marriage and gay rights in general. And he’s finally found a poll he likes:

Shapiro Laments the Persecution of Conservatives

Ben Shapiro has long cracked me up. I first saw him a columnist for the Worldnetdaily before he moved on to Breitbart.com and now to Truth Revolt. He’s the far right’s boy wonder. And in his latest column, he’s got an axe to grind with Stephen Colbert.

Limbaugh Not Happy About Colbert Replacing Letterman

Rush Limbaugh, who only does comedy unintentionally, reacted to the news that Stephen Colbert would be replacing David Letterman by saying that CBS had now “declared war on the heartland of America” and was mounting an “assault on traditional American values.”
