Rep. Sally Kern of Oklahoma is at it again. During debate on a bill to end affirmative action in that state, she let loose with some of that famous right wing anecdotal “data” to show that black people are just lazy and unintelligent and that’s why they end up in jail.

NYPD Commish: Everything Wrong With Justice System
NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly gave an interview to a TV station that shows him to be pretty much everything that is wrong with our criminal (in)justice system. Believe it or not, he actually argues that the NYPD’s stop and frisk program, which targets blacks and Latinos a staggering 87% of the time, isn’t racist enough.

Another Local Politicians Uses Racial Slur
Another local politician, this time in Michigan and this time a Democrat, has been caught on tape using a racial slur. Buena Vista Township Clerk Gloria Platko called a black member of the township’s board of trustees a “nigger” and it was recorded and released to the press.

Another Local Pol Spouts Racism
Man, these guys seem to be coming out of the woodwork. A commissioner in Salina County, Kansas is in hot water after being taped in a session saying that if they’re going to renovate a county building they should hire an architect rather than “nigger-rigging” it.

Blackwell on the ‘Illiberalism’ of Marriage Equality

Hospital Appeases Father’s Racism
Here’s an appalling story out of my home state of Michigan. The father of a hospitalized baby in Flint demanded that no black nurses or doctors care for his child — and the hospital complied with that request and made sure only white nurses and doctors cared for the kid.
