Gilbert and Jones Think Marijuana Legalization is a Liberal Plot

Joel Gilbert, the wingnut who made a documentary claiming that Obama’s “real” father is Frank Marshall Davis (one of the three right wing conspiracy theories about Obama’s “real” father), went on Alex Jones’ show and agreed that liberals support marijuana legalization as a plot to keep people “stunned and stumbling around” so they’ll keep voting for them.

Methodist Church Reinstates Minister Who Conducted Gay Wedding

I grew up in the Methodist church and I’m happy to see that the church has officially, and finally, reinstated Frank Schaefer, the Pennsylvania minister who presided over his son’s same-sex wedding. He was defrocked as a result but the denomination’s highest court has now restored him to the ministry.

Can a Business Eliminate PrEP Coverage in Health Insurance?

The Advocate asks a very interesting question in light of the Hobby Lobby case. That case said that a closely-held company could do away with contraception coverage in their health insurance if they have religious objections to it. Well that’s one way to make all those dystopic predictions come true.

Clear Voter Suppression in Georgia

In the state of Georgia, canvassers registered about 90,000 people who had never voted before, mostly minorities and young people, earlier this year. 50,000 of those did not end up on the voter rolls and the Republican secretary of state refused to even respond to inquires as to why. A lawsuit has been filed over it, of course.

Okay, Who’s ‘Stirring Up Witches’ Against the Wingnut?

Jennifer LeClaire is the endlessly ridiculous editor of Charisma magazine. She’s a Holy Spirit-filled, tongue speaking, praying away the demons type. And she’s accusing atheists of trying to “stir up witches” against her because of the really stupid shit she said about how demonic activity increases this time of year.
