Biography

After spending several years touring the country as a stand up comedian, Ed Brayton tired of explaining his jokes to small groups of dazed illiterates and turned to writing as the most common outlet for the voices in his head. He has appeared on the Rachel Maddow Show and the Thom Hartmann Show, and is almost certain that he is the only person ever to make fun of Chuck Norris on C-SPAN.

Fischer: Obama ‘Danced on Graves of AIDS Researchers’

Bryan Fischer predictably freaks out over President Obama noting that a number of AIDS researchers died in the Malaysian airliner that was shot down over the Ukraine. Apparently, Obama should have condemned all gay people while he did it.

America’s ‘Open Rebellion Against God’

Like many other bigots, Gary Cass of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission is seizing on a single poll that shows only about 3% of Americans identify as gay, lesbian or bi to claim that we should be catering to such a tiny minority. Because they’d totally change their mind if it were 10% or 20%. There …

Gina Meeks, the assistant editor of Charisma magazine, has an article noting that 8 states currently have bans on atheists holding public office. In promoting the story, the magazine calls those laws “good news for a Judeo-Christian America.”

Ted Cruz: Xenophobia, but With Teddy Bears

Many, including me, praised Glenn Beck for saying that the child refugees should be treated with compassion rather than being made into a political football. But that was before he actually invited Ted Cruz to come along with him to hand out teddy bears and soccer balls to the very kids he wants to send …

Barton Preaches Theocracy in Ukraine

Glenn Beck recently claimed that his good friend, fake historian David Barton, had been invited to give his usual lecture full of lies to politicians in a former Soviet republic. Now Barton has revealed that it was in the Ukraine, where he told them how to base their entire country on the Bible.

Wingnut Xenophobe: Death Too Good for Obama

Stephen Steinlight is a senior policy analyst for bigoted anti-immigration group the Center for Immigration Studies. He likes to speak to Tea Party groups. And he likes to tell them that not only should Obama be impeached, being drawn and quartered is too good for him.

Akin: My Stupid Statement Was Part of ‘Spiritual Warfare’

Todd Akin is still on a tour promoting his new book and he’s still saying really, really dumb things in interviews. Now he says that his inane statement about women’s bodies having the ability to “shut down” to prevent pregnancy during rape was all part of the “intense war” on evil he was fighting.

Kluwe Vindicated, Vikings Playing CYA

Former Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe, an outspoken gay rights activist, accused the Vikings’ special teams coach of saying that gay people should be killed during a meeting and he has now been entirely vindicated in that accusation. But the Vikings are playing a furious game of cover-your-ass and pretending that everything’s fine.

WND Dominionist Runs for Office on ‘Freedom’ Platform

The Worldnetdaily’s Molotov Mitchell is running for the state legislature in North Carolina and his employer is pulling out the stops to promote his candidacy on their “news” site. Hilariously, and ridiculously, Mitchell says he’s running a platform of privacy and freedom.

Amid Drought, CA Couple Faces Fine for Not Using Enough Water

Ken Ham’s Idiotic Bleatings About SETI

It seems that there is nothing that Ken Ham’s cartoonishly simplistic ideas about what his enemies believe can’t explain. Charles Darwin has invaded everything, according to Ham, even forcing us to look for evidence of extra-terrestrial life.

Ramtha the Racist Cult Leader

Susy Buchanan has a story at Alternet about JZ Knight, the ridiculous con artist who has become very wealthy telling people that she’s channeling the voice of a 35,000 year old warrior named Ramtha. It seems some video leaked of a drunken Knight going on a bigoted rant about Jews, Mexicans and gay people.

Chuck Norris: Anti-Vaxxer

Chuck Norris believes so many astonishingly stupid things that it certainly should come as no surprise that he’s apparently also an anti-vaxxer. In his latest Worldnetdaily column, he claims that vaccines are the cause of allergies and says some seriously dumb things along the way.
