Bryan Fischer Award Nominee: Scott Lively

The Bryan Fischer Award is given to those who display a staggering lack of self-awareness, accusing their opponents of committing their own worst sins. Deranged bigot Scott Lively surely deserves one for claiming that an HRC report that points out his own vile positions against gay people is trying to make people kill him.

Bryan Fischer Award Nominee: Barack Obama

The Bryan Fischer Award is given to those who exhibit a staggering lack of self-awareness or who accuse their opponents of their own worst traits. I usually give these to other right wingers, but President Obama has definitely earned one for this incredible display of chutzpah in signing the bill to boost VA spending:

Bryan Fischer Award Nominee: John Yoo

The Bryan Fischer Award is given to those who show a staggering lack of self-awareness, accusing their political opponents of their own worst sins and ignoring their own contradictions. John Yoo is practically the living embodiment of the award and he displays it while declaring that the Hobby Lobby case demonstrates Obama’s “fundamental abuse of executive power.”

But rarely does someone engage in such behavior quite as blatantly as Joseph Farah of the Worldnetdaily, who accuses Joe Conason of being an “activist working undercover as a journalist.” The whole thing began when a news site accidentally sent out a Farah column under Conason’s byline.

Bryan Fischer Award Nominee: The Discovery Institute

My dear friend Genie Scott is retiring as the executive director of the National Center for Science Education and the NCSE board named Ann Reid, who looks like she could be Genie’s sister, as her replacement. So the Discovery Institute’s David Klinghoffer put up a snarky post on their blog calling the NCSE a “leading science-denial group.” And heads hit desks everywhere.
