Bryan Fischer Award Nominee: John Yoo

The Bryan Fischer Award is given to those who show a staggering lack of self-awareness, accusing their political opponents of their own worst sins and ignoring their own contradictions. John Yoo is practically the living embodiment of the award and he displays it while declaring that the Hobby Lobby case demonstrates Obama’s “fundamental abuse of executive power.”

Bryan Fischer Award Nominee: Gary Bauer

Last week’s Road to Majority conference put on by Ralph Reed’s Faith and Freedom Coalition must have destroyed every irony meter within a thousand-mile radius. Gary Bauer actually gave a talk in which he claimed that President Obama is “obsessed” with gay issues — at a conference full of people who spend nearly all their time and energy to prevent equality and demonize gay people. Bryan Fischer would be so proud.

Bryan Fischer Award Nominee: Bill O’Reilly

The Bryan Fischer award is given to those who display a staggering lack of self-awareness, accusing their opponents of displaying their own worst traits. It could just as easily be called the Bill O’Reilly Award given his penchant for psychological projection. Take a look at this statement from a recent show:

Bryan Fischer Award Nominee: Dan Gainor

The Bryan Fischer Award is given to those who display a staggering lack of self-awareness, accusing their opponents of their own worst deeds. Since this is an almost ubiquitous behavior from the Christian right, it isn’t hard to find examples. Bryan Fischer Award Nominee: The Discovery Institute

My dear friend Genie Scott is retiring as the executive director of the National Center for Science Education and the NCSE board named Ann Reid, who looks like she could be Genie’s sister, as her replacement. So the Discovery Institute’s David Klinghoffer put up a snarky post on their blog calling the NCSE a “leading science-denial group.” And heads hit desks everywhere.

Bryan Fischer Award Nominee: Joseph Farah

The Bryan Fischer Award is given to those who display are incredibly oblivious to their own contradictions and accuse their opponents of their own worst traits. And for Joseph Farah to write a column entitled “How journalist lost its way” is enough to destroy every irony meter in the solar system. This from the guy whose outlet just the other day took an article in Politico entitled “President Obama blogs in favor of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act” and retitled it “Obama blogs in favor of sexual perversion.” Joseph Farah pretending to be an advocate for good journalism is like Chris Brown opening a charm school.

Bryan Fischer Award Nominee: Ann Coulter

The Bryan Fischer Award is given to those who exhibit a staggering lack of self-awareness, accusing their opponents of displaying their own worst traits. This one is a doozy. Ann Coulter is actually slamming the Tea Party types, and Liz Cheney in particular, for exploiting the Republican party for money and ego:
