Land and Mills Lie Through Their Teeth

Richard Land used to head the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, but his own ethics apparently do not prevent him from lying. Same for Gene Mills of the Louisiana Family Forum. On Tony Perkins’ radio show, they falsely claimed that non-discrimination ordinances have criminalized Christian speech.

“Homosexuality and the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender community, that is the ultimate rebellion against God,” Land declared. “We don’t want them to take away from us the right to say that, to say that’s a rebellion against God.”

Mills replied: “And that’s exactly what they were doing, they were going to use a cause of action against us to silence — and that is what is happening in ‘everywhere USA’ — religious liberty is under assault…. Any expression, any thought, anything you just shared, could have been construed as a hate crime or an act of discrimination, and the reality is the shame and the guilt the homosexual feels is mistakenly reinterpreted as discrimination and what they attempt to do is to call it discrimination and prohibit it.”

21 states and about 200 cities have such non-discrimination ordinances. Surely, given that fact, there should be ministers and others being locked up left and right for speaking out against homosexuality. The reality, of course, is they can’t name a single one. Because they’re lying. It’s what they do. But they’re lying for Jesus, so it’s okay.

Does anybody confront these clowns and ask the simple question: “Is discrimination a necessary part of Christianity?” Are homophobia, racism and general hate required by Christianity?

“Homosexuality … is the ultimate rebellion against God,”
So homosexuality is worse in god’s sight than conquering some group, killing all the males and non-virgin females, and then raping all the virgins that are left?

Oh!…. Sorry, my mistake… on reflection that’s exactly what God would prefer to a bit of same-sex nooky.

Hardly. How could they name them when Obama edited them out of history, by waiting for the IRS to detect them breaking FutureLaw, then traveling back in the Obama Family Time Machine and giving their not-yet-mothers access to no-cost, government-mandated, employer-subsidized abortifacients?

Now is his plan coming through loud and clear?

Well, if the expression, thought or other thing shared is “Get out of my shop. Even if I serve the general public I won’t serve you because I don’t like your kind,” then you might get fined for violating an anti-discrimination law.

the reality is the shame and the guilt the homosexual feels is mistakenly reinterpreted as discrimination and what they attempt to do is to call it discrimination and prohibit it

What a nice case of victim blaming! The “good” Christians are just trying to let the gays know (by refusing them services they otherwise offer to the public) that gays should feel shame and guilt and those gays mistake the message for discrimination! How unreasonable of them!

The sad thing is that the mugs in pews (hundreds of millions of them) believe every lie they are told.

Rebelling against god is legal (it’s that pesky 1st Amendment in action). It was rebelling against the government that got the Southern Baptists in all manner of trouble.

@4 John Pieret – Not to mention they’re making these claims on the public airwaves. Irony, it’s not just for breakfast anymore.
