WND Columnist Goes All Macho on Michael Sam

Carl Jackson, one of the seemingly infinite number of Christian right radio hosts in existence, is quite agitated that anyone would dare to criticize former NFL coach Tony Dungy, another Christian righter himself. Because Christians are apparently untouchable and if you dare to criticize one, you are “crucifying” and “persecuting” them.

Make no mistake about it: Tony Dungy is being crucified by some of his colleagues in sports media not because they disagree with him, but like Tim Tebow, because of whom and what he represents – Christ, common sense, decency and objective truth. For immoral behavior to be accepted in any culture, moral behavior as well as the source of that moral behavior (Jesus Christ) must be demonized.

Crucified! They’re crucifying him, just like they did Jesus! I’m always amused to see a wingnut bigot complain about being demonized, especially when it comes to anything involving gay people. You want to see demonization? Look at what the Worldnetdaily and the entire Christian right says every day about gay people, that they’re demon-possessed pedophiles who are trying to, quite literally, destroy America, destroy civilization, destroy the entire world. That’s what demonization looks like. Tony Dungy is being criticized.

There’s a valuable lesson to be learned here. The left’s triune god, their “Untouchables” per se, consists of minorities, women and gays. The NFL is being successfully emasculated by the left as evidenced by their pink apparel, the exhortation of an openly gay male in an otherwise super masculine sport and now the demonization of a coach that epitomizes what it means to be a real man. Those of us that are Christian, conservatives or both should expect persecution. However, we can rest assured that even if we’re the only voice crying in the wilderness, we’re still right.

Uh, Carl…the pink apparel is worn once in a while to draw attention to breast cancer. If you really think that “emasculates” NFL players and makes them not “real men,” you’ve got some serious issues. And wouldn’t you love to see him tell the 6’2, 250 lb. mountain of muscle named Michael Sam that he just isn’t “masculine” enough for him?

It is like he thinks that any pink will cause his testicles to shrivel up in terror

“Make no mistake about it: Tony Dungy is being crucified by some of his colleagues in sports media not because they disagree with him, but like Tim Tebow, because of whom and what he represents …”

Note the overestimation of their support. ‘Most people really are on our side, it’s just the polls that are skewed’*.

“… Christ, common sense, decency and objective truth. ”

Well zero out of three is a score — at least.

It’s totally true, the reasoning is as follows:

    1. Girls have cooties.
    2. Girls are weak.
    3. Girls wear pink.
    4. Pink gives you cooties that make you weak.

Ah, the 4th grade. Truly, a time of unmatched brilliance. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to jump off my roof using my blanket as a parachute.

You just have to run this through the Fundie-to-English translator and you get: “I, Carl Jackson, really, really, really, really, really REALLY want to have a rough night of being dominated by a big black football man.”

MARK MY WORDS IF THIS HOMOPUSSIFICATION OF FOOTBALL CONTINUES SOON THE PLAYERS WILL BE WEARING SHOULDERPADS AND PILING ON EACH OTHER!!! THEY MIGHT EVEN PAT EACH OTHER ON THE BUTT!!!

  6. John Pieret says

For what it’s worth, Dungy claims he was not talking about Sam’s right to play or any distraction his sexual orientation might have with other players who, after all, the teams can discipline, as the Dolphins did Richie Incognito. He was talking about the media attention to a player who was the 275th player drafted. How many 7th round draftees get hugely attended press conferences when they report to camp?

    Dungy did sort of apologize:

“I do, however, believe that the media attention that comes with it will be a distraction,” Dungy said. “Unfortunately we are all seeing this play out now, and I feel badly that my remarks played a role in the distraction.”

It was a stupid thing to say but Tony should be able to climb down from the cross any day now.

“Christ you know it ain’t easy,
You know how hard it can be.
    The way things are going….
They’re going to make me watch a gay play football in pink.”

  8. D. C. Sessions says

    Pink? Now pink is anathema?

Crap. After all that trouble and money spent on getting rid of melanin.

“It is like he thinks that any pink will cause his testicles to shrivel up in terror”

Last time I noticed, mine were sort of pinkish* should I be worried?

“The NFL is being successfully emasculated by the left as evidenced by their pink apparel”

So, good Christians are in favor of breast cancer? What was that about common sense and decency again?

  11. cptdoom says

Ah, yes the “distraction” meme. It’s a convenient way for people like Dungy, who has raised money for an anti-gay hate group, to disguise their bigotry. Michael Vick does time for actually persecuting innocent animals and Dungy, among others, welcomed him back with open arms. Now we’re supposed to believe this Super-Bowl winning coach couldn’t handle a few more questions after practice or demand professionalism in his locker room. I’m calling bullsh*t. If tomorrow Sam declared himself “ex-gay” and having found Jesus, Dungy’s attitude would reverse course in a heartbeat.

  12. scienceavenger says

One would think of all the terms Christians need explained to them, “crucified” would not be one of them.

  13. peterh says

Jackson (and others of his ilk) mixes in so many layers and kinds of stupid it’s difficult to find where to begin pointing out this is one more step in “it can’t get any stupider but it just did.”

  14. says

Wingnuts are still butthurt over Tim Tebow, the Christian affirmative action case who was given 3 chances more in the NFL than he legitimately earned?

Crucifixion ain’t what it used to be.

  15. says

John Pieret “How many 7th round draftees get hugely attended press conferences when they report to camp?”
Now you’re just being ridiculous. Gay are already camp. It’s practically cliche. #IAMNOTHELPING

  16. Taz says

And wouldn’t you love to see him tell the 6’2, 250 lb. mountain of muscle named Michael Sam that he just isn’t “masculine” enough for him?

Or any of the NFL players who are proud to wear pink for breast cancer awareness, especially those who have had a loved one battle that disease.

  17. dugglebogey says

The criticism of Dungy seems appropriate since he feels like a gay person shouldn’t be hired because he might make the other people who work there uncomfortable.

It’s not like assholes didn’t use that excuse to hire people of Dungy’s race not too long ago….

  18. dugglebogey says

And you’re completely correct, how many right wing radio lunatic Limbaugh wannabes are out there? Holy shit!

  19. says

New Rule: Christians are not allowed to use the word “demonized”, especially when they literally demonize their opponents. And the only reason it seems that liberals worship minorities, women and gays is because Conservatives can’t help but bully those people constantly.

  20. moarscienceplz says

Pink is to Real Menz as Holy Water is to Dracula.

It is to laugh that he would hold up Tebow as a shining example of Chritianity. For, unlike the people who want to be decent to gays, Tebow explicitly and repeatedly disobeyed Christ.

  21. gridlore says

I wonder if this idiot knows that the waffenfarbe (corps color) for panzer troops in WWII was pink. Yup, those guys handling Panzerkampfwagen IIIs were total sissies.

  22. Electric Shaman says

Nearly every single play that occurs in football begins with the quaterback walking up behind a bent over center – presenting, if you will – and placing his hand directly on the taint and testicle area of the center. That’s not even mentioning the big pile of muscle bound sweaty men that plays often end in. Nope, no room for that homo shit in football. No sir.
