Todd Akin: Totally Not Playing the Victim

Todd Akin’s comeback tour is inadvertently turning into a comedy show. On the Steve Deace show, Deace began the interview by declaring, “We’re conservatives here, so we’re not into victimology.” And literally one minute later Akin said, “There was an obvious intent on the part of left to victimize anybody which (sic) is Republican if they could on the subject.”

Does Deace say, “Hey, wait a minute, you just said they victimized you and we’re conservatives so we aren’t into victimology”? Of course not.

And then he goes on to say that the media tried to “assassinate” his political career:

“The media wants to roll another Republican and do this assassination thing, but when is someone just going to stand up to these jerks and tell them what they are and say they are manipulating the news for their own agenda,” he said.

But he’s totally not a victim! And conservatives aren’t into being victims, even when they say they’re victims! They’re just completely oblivious to how incoherent and contradictory they are.

Farce more than comedy I think.

Akin is apolitical joke. Not overly funny though – and sadly not alone.

Problem with political jokes is that too many of them get elected. (Don’t think Todd Akin will be again though.)

Akin is yet another idiot engineer. Along with the many idiot MD’s (e.g. Ron and Rand Paul) out there, he’s living proof that a good education is no protection against utter foolishness.

Criticizing your opinion isn’t “assassination.” It’s not even bullying. It’s what grown-ups do.

  4. Artor says

Hey, Republicans aren’t into obliviousness, incoherence and contradiction. How could you accuse them of such things?

  5. dingojack says

Isn’t ‘victimology‘ a scientific study of victims of crimes and the effect those crimes have on them?
Why does Todd Akin (and conservatives) hate the FBI?!?

Has Akin ever been directly confronted with just the factually inaccurate nature of his views on rape and pregnancy?

If it’s a legitimate thought, the brain has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.

Clarification: When he says “victimology” he is not referring to legitimate victimizing. Victimology is when leftist minority America-haters complain. Legitimate victims are when patriots get their feelings hurt, or when someone casts aspersions on their asparagus.

Modus, over the last couple of weeks, I was starting to think you’d lost a step, or two. Now I see you were just saving up for the right moment.

    Well played, sir, well played.
